The storm-dark sky seemed to press down on the trio as they stood frozen on the ash-choked road. The stone-skin creature's gaze darted between Silra and Sister Hale before fixing intently on the cleric. Its eyes burned with an inner fire, the pupils constricting as it drew in the blue light emanating from Hale's symbol. The air vibrated with a low-pitched rumble, like thunder, as the creature emitted a series of sounds that seemed to vibrate through the air.

Sister Hale stood firm, her mace at the ready, but her voice remained steady despite the tension thrumming through her body. "We'll proceed with caution," she said, measuring her words. The creature's gaze never wavered from hers, its eyes seeming to bore into her very soul. Silra watched, her teal eyes narrowing as she studied the creature's reaction to Hale's symbol – every line of its body screaming territorial warning.

The scraping sound grew closer, and Hale considered the possibility that this thing might attack at any moment. The creature's body began to shift, its stone skin rippling like a pond as it took a step forward, its eyes fixed intently on Silra. A low-pitched rumble emanated from within the stone creature, making the air around them distort further. The creature's gaze flicked between Silra and Hale once more before settling back on the cleric.

Sister Hale stepped back instinctively when the creature rippled forward, her grip on her mace tightening as she weighed Silra's options against the approaching threat. "That thing's... not stone like it looks," she muttered, her voice laced with wariness. "Something moving under the surface – living maybe, but wrong." She met Silra's steady gaze with a mix of calculation and concern, her eyes searching for a way forward amidst the uncertainty.
