Phase: escalating

As they ascended the stairs, the air grew thick with an eerie silence, punctuated only by the faint rumble of shifting stone beneath their feet. Silra's teal eyes narrowed as she sensed the weight of the city's secrets pressing down upon them, her gaze darting toward the main chamber above. Sister Hale's steady symbol pulsed with a slow, warning rhythm, and she turned to Silra with an urgent expression, her eyes locked on the rogue's tense posture.
The ground shuddered beneath their feet, matching the slow, deliberate breathing of the stone itself, as if it too were holding its breath in anticipation. The sound of shifting stone grew louder, echoing through the tunnels like a living entity, and Silra froze, one hand still resting casually near her dagger but every muscle coiled for action. Her unholy symbol remained quiet, a testament to her focus on the moment.
Sister Hale's eyes flicked toward the stairs, her own gaze tracing the shifting stone as if searching for hidden patterns or warning signs. "Whatever Gravedigger Renn encountered down there," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the growing rumble, "whatever made him say 'premature'... it wasn't just the flooding or structural collapse." The stone beneath them seemed to be breathing again, slower but deeper now, as if it were intentionally responding to their presence.
