As Sister Hale's unholy symbol pulsed, casting eerie shadows on the walls, Jeane Cromwell took a step back from the creaking floorboards, her voice low and urgent. "Silra, Hale, stand clear of the center column." The air was heavy with anticipation, the flickering lantern's light struggling to penetrate the darkness.

Sister Hale's eyes were fixed on the floor, tracing a sigil in the air with her finger as she identified the weakest point—a seam where two stone slabs joined near the edge. "Whatever's beneath us is using the foundation as leverage," Jeane whispered, her gaze darting between the shifting floorboards and the dark recesses of the church.

Silra crouched low, her ear pressed against the cold floor as she strained to hear whatever was stirring beneath their feet. Her skin crawled with a sense of unease, but she remained focused on the task at hand. "A restless spirit we can handle," she muttered, "exorcise it with a little pain, a lot of blasphemy... maybe some ritualized fucking to really stick it in the eye of whatever holy figure's ghost is haunting this place."

The rope creaked and groaned, testing its limits as the floorboards shuddered once more. Sister Hale's grip on her symbol tightened, her eyes flashing with a mix of fear and determination. The storm outside seemed to be reaching its crescendo, but in the church, time itself seemed to be slowing, as if whatever was stirring beneath their feet was waiting for its moment to strike.
