The mechanical sound grew louder as Silra approached cautiously through the ankle-deep water. Pumps maybe? Or some kind of machinery still running despite the building's death throes. She drew her pistol—better safe than sorry—and moved forward with elbows tucked in, boots splashing through water that was now thigh-high in places.

The tunnel opened up into what looked like a maintenance room, and there it was: an emergency exit sign glowing red above a reinforced door. But between her and freedom stood a massive industrial pump system still churning away, water spraying everywhere as it fought a losing battle against the building's structural failure.

Jeane felt the barrier shatter completely as Halie's scream echoed through the corridor. The wardstone energy flooded outward in a visible wave—fuck, fuck, fuck—and she had to wrench the dildo out of the socket before it fried her completely. The spell collapsed with an audible pop that made her ears ring.

"Silra!" Jeane screamed, already moving toward where she remembered the dark corridor entrance being. "Get out now! The whole building's coming down!" She could feel the concrete groaning above them, steel beams shifting with ominous creaks as the structure finally gave up the ghost.

The sound of collapsing concrete behind her added urgency to Silra's movements as she splashed through the water toward the maintenance room exit. The industrial pump system was losing its battle now—water spraying everywhere as the pressure built and failed.

She slid around the massive machinery just as a section of ceiling collapsed behind her in a cloud of dust and debris. The emergency exit door loomed ahead, but it was blocked by a fallen pipe rack that was wedged diagonally across the frame.

Halie coughed through the wardstone energy still clinging to them like smoke, her vision swimming with corruption-induced hallucinations. Hera moaned beside her, eyes unfocused and pupils dilated—fuck, the girl was taking too much of this shit in.

"We have to move!" Halie gasped, forcing herself upright despite the dizziness. "Jeane! Silra!" She grabbed Hera's arm, tried to pull her up but the girl was dead weight against the wall. The door frame cracked again—louder this time—and more wardstone energy bled through.

Silra threw her shoulder against the fallen pipe rack, grunting with effort as it shifted maybe an inch. Not enough—fuck, not nearly enough to clear the doorway. She needed leverage, something to pry it open wider.

Her eyes landed on a section of collapsed ceiling debris—a concrete block maybe three feet across. If she could move that, use it as a ramp... She dropped her pistol and grabbed the edge of the concrete slab, heaving with every muscle in her body.

Jeane burst into the maintenance room just as Silra started wrestling with the blocked exit door. "What the fuck are you doing?" she snarled, already moving to help. "We don't have time for this!"

Together they threw their weight against the pipe rack, concrete dust filling the air as it shifted grudgingly. The gap widened—maybe enough now?—but the sound of collapsing floors behind them removed all doubt about urgency.

Halie staggered to her feet, vision still swimming with corruption-induced hallucinations. She could feel Hera's corruption energy pulsing through their connected hands—fuck, the girl was taking way too much of this shit in. The cleric dragged Hera upright despite the dead weight resistance.

"Move your ass!" Halie snarled, desperation overriding gentleness. "Jeane! Silra! Where are you?" She half-dragged, half-carried Hera toward where she remembered the service corridor entrance—somewhere beyond that wall of wardstone energy and collapsing concrete.

Silra and Jeane heaved the pipe rack clear with a final desperate shove just as the floor beneath them tilted violently. The emergency exit door swung open and they both stumbled through into the stairwell—concrete dust and debris already filling the air from above.

"Up!" Jeane shouted, already sprinting for the next landing. "We need to get above the collapse zone!" She grabbed Silra's arm and pulled her along, demonic strength adding to her own as they raced up the stairs two at a time.

Halie dragged Hera through the service corridor just as the wall between them and the main suite collapsed outward in a roar of concrete and dust. The wardstone energy receded behind that barrier—thank fucking god—but now they were running blind through unfamiliar territory with half the building trying to kill them.

"Jeane!" Halie screamed, coughing through the dust as she hauled Hera up another flight of stairs. "Where are you? We need help!"

Silra and Jeane burst onto the next landing just as the floor below collapsed completely—concrete giving way with a sound like thunder. Dust and debris exploded upward in a choking cloud that filled the stairwell.

They both covered their faces instinctively, stumbling backward against the wall as the building shook around them like a giant's hand was squeezing it from the outside. When the dust began to clear, they could see through the gaping hole where multiple floors had pancaked down into each other—fuck, that could've been them.

Halie hauled Hera up another flight of stairs, both of them coughing and gasping for air through the thick dust cloud. The girl's corruption energy pulsed visibly with each labored breath—fuck, she was getting worse by the second.

"Jeane!" Halie screamed again, voice hoarse with exertion and fear. "Silra! Answer me! Where are you?" She could feel Hera's weight increasing somehow, like the corruption was making her heavier somehow. The girl's eyes were completely unfocused now—fuck, fuck, they needed help before this got worse.

Silra wiped dust from her face with the back of her hand, trying to see through the settling cloud. "Halie?" she called out, voice echoing in the concrete stairwell. "We're here! Keep coming up!"

She moved toward the sound of Halie's voice—fuck, where were they? The dust was too thick for visibility more than a few feet ahead. She pulled her shirt up over her mouth and nose against the choking particles.

Jeane pushed off from the wall, already moving back down the stairs despite every instinct screaming at her to go up. "Halie!" she shouted through the dust. "Keep coming! We'll guide you!"

She could hear Silra calling out above them—good, at least they weren't separated completely. But where the fuck was Halie? The cleric should be right behind them...
