At The base of a crumbling stone tower, the shared situation sharpens into an immediate decision point. What is already in motion no longer supports waiting or circling. The next concrete move will determine how this scene changes.

Seraphine

Seraphine · Wizard

I pull out the ancient scroll containing the partial map of the tower's ground floor, my fingers tracing the faded ink lines as Merrin approaches.
The air here feels thick, heavy with the tower’s hungry presence. It’s not just about getting in; we need to understand what we’re dealing with first. She takes the map, her eyes scanning it intently before looking back at me, a question clear in her gaze.
I shake my head slightly, a gesture of both negation and concern.
No, this is incomplete. We need every ward signature mapped out completely before we even think about breaching that entrance. The wards aren't just barriers—they're alive, feeding on something inside those walls like parasites on a host. My gaze drifts up the crumbling stonework of the tower, following the lines of dark energy that pulse beneath its surface.
It's not safe to assume we can smash our way through like barbarians. We have to be smart about this. *I turn to face Halie, who is preparing her ward-identification spell. Can you cast a wider detection spell? Not just for the perimeter, but deep inside the structure too? I want to know what kind of dark magic is fueling these things before we get close.

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

The dwarf woman surveys the ominous tower, her hand resting on the haft of her mace. She takes a deep breath, the scent of ancient stone and something more primal filling her nostrils. "Alright, listen up," Varrika barks, her gravelly voice cutting through the apprehensive chatter. "We've been circling this cursed place long enough. Time to put our coin where our mouths are."

She turns to Jeane, the sorceress, her eyes narrowed with determination. "Sorceress, you're our key to getting in without setting off every ward in the place. So start working that magic. And Merrin," she nods at the rogue, "I need you watching her back. We can't afford any surprises once we're inside."

Varrika then faces Halie, the cleric, her expression grim but respectful. "Halie, I need you ready to pray for a miracle if things go south. These wards... they feel alive. Hungry. Like they're waiting for us to make one wrong move."

She takes a step towards the tower, her heavy boots crunching on the rocky ground. "Now, let's stop dancing and get our arses in there. The Time-Splitting Sword isn't going to steal itself."

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

I circle the tower's base, my eyes scanning every inch of stone. The wards hum under my fingertips, hungry and alive. I mark each signature with quick strokes of my charcoal, the parchment crinkling in my grip. "Hey sorceress!" I call out to Jeane. "You got that map of the ground floor? We're gonna need all the eyes we can get if we want to find a way in without tripping these ravenous wards."

My stomach twists with worry as I think about what might be at the heart of this tower, feeding these wards' insatiable hunger. But there's no use dwelling on it now. We've come too far to turn back. I look to Halie and Seraphine. "You two keep an eye out for any gaps in the wards while I mark these signatures. And keep your wits about you - we don't want to be caught off guard by whatever's lurking inside."

My eyes dart to Jeane, hoping her magic can lead us to a safe entry point. But even if she finds one, I have a feeling our real trouble is still waiting for us in the tower's dark heart. Still, there's no other choice but to press on. I tighten my grip on my crowbar, ready for whatever traps and wards might be waiting for us. The tower looms above, its hungry stone walls seeming to breathe with each step I take. But we'll face it head on, no matter what lurks within. "Everyone ready?" I ask, my voice steady even as my heart hammers in my chest. "Because we're going in."
