At The base of a crumbling stone tower, the shared situation sharpens into an immediate decision point. What is already in motion no longer supports waiting or circling. The next concrete move will determine how this scene changes.

Halie

Halie · Cleric

I need five minutes of quiet focus to cast my ward-identification spell. You're right, Varrika—the stone here is hungry, and we can't just smash through the walls like barbarians. We need to map every ward, every pressure plate, every damn trap before we even think about entering this cursed place. Merrin, Seraphine—I'm counting on you two to be our eyes while I work my magic. Jeane, if anyone can find us a safe way in, it's you. But no flying solo until I've got the whole perimeter warded. We stick together, we move smart, and we do this right—because doing it wrong means we're not walking out of here. I'll start the spell now. Everyone: complete silence for five minutes. Complete focus.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

I circle the tower's crumbling facade, my keen eyes scanning for gaps in the wards. The stone thrums under my fingers, hungry and alive. I mark each signature with a scrap of parchment, my brow furrowed in concentration. "Seraphine!" I call out, my voice echoing off the ancient masonry. "You got that map of the ground floor? We're gonna need it if we want to find a way in without setting off every trap and ward in this place."

I can feel the weight of the tower bearing down on me, its predatory magic pulsing like a dark heartbeat. Whatever lies at its heart, it's drawing power from somewhere deep - and I aim to stay clear of its greedy appetite. My fingers tighten around the hilt of my lockpick as I circle back towards the others, ready to share what I've found. We've got a long road ahead of us, and I aim to keep my head attached to my shoulders while we're at it.

Jeane

Jeane · Sorcerer

I circle the perimeter twice more with arcane sight extended, tracking pulses of dark energy that feed outward from the tower's core in distinct patterns—predatory, hungry, intelligent. The stones themselves seem to breathe. Halie's right—we can't just smash our way through like mindless brute barbarians. These wards are alive, and they're starving for something more than us already inside those walls. Merrin, Seraphine—I need you both mapping every signature around the whole perimeter, not just the entrance. We don't know what's at the heart of this thing yet, but whatever it is, these wards feed off it like parasites on a host.

The stones are alive and hungry. I can feel them pulling at my power even with my shields up. This isn't simple trap magic—it's something older, darker. Merrin! I need you to mark every ward junction, every dead zone, especially gaps where the energy's weakest or strongest. Those will tell us where the entrance was originally and maybe where it is now if there's been a collapse or deliberate sealing.

I prepare a spell anchor—if we can find a section of wall thin enough, I might be able to phase through temporarily without tripping everything at once. Seraphine—I need you cross-referencing those library notes with the ward signatures Merrin and Halie are mapping. The 'hungry stone' reference isn't just local color—this whole structure is a magical feeding ground for something ancient.
