At The base of a crumbling stone tower, the shared situation sharpens into an immediate decision point. What is already in motion no longer supports waiting or circling. The next concrete move will determine how this scene changes.

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

Varrika hefts her mace, eyes narrowed as she scans the tower's crumbling facade. The runes etched into the stone seem to pulse with a predatory hunger, and she feels the hair on the back of her neck stand up. "These wards aren't just barriers," she growls, "they're feeding on something inside those walls. And whatever it is, it's not going to let us waltz in without a fight."

She glances at Halie, the cleric who led them here on a mission from her goddess. "Stay sharp, priestess. Your protection ward might hold off the worst of it, but no magic can guard against everything. Merrin, Jeane - I need you two to find us a way in that won't set off every alarm and trap in this accursed place."

The dwarf warrior spits on the ground, leaving a small puddle of saliva. "As for me, I'll watch our backs and smash anything that tries to stop us from getting what we came here for. But mark my words - there's dark magic at work here, and it's not going to be happy about us disturbing whatever's locked up inside."

Jeane

Jeane · Sorcerer

The stone of this tower isn't just old—it's hungry. I circle the perimeter with my arcane sight extended, tracking the dark energy pulses that radiate like sick veins through ancient masonry. Each ward signature I map glows with a parasitic light, drawing power from something inside those walls. These aren't mere defenses, sisters. These are feeding grounds built to sustain themselves over centuries on whatever lies at this structure's core. The magic is dark and active, not dormant—a predator that has learned to wait. Map the entire perimeter, I call back to Merrin and Seraphine. Not just the entrance, but every stone that hums with power. We need to understand the whole ecosystem before we step into its belly.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

I circle the perimeter, my halfling eyes keen for any sign of traps or wards. The stone seems to thrum beneath my fingers, pulsing with dark energy. I mutter under my breath, "Hungry as a dragon, this place is. We best tread careful."

I mark each ward with a scrap of parchment, mapping their signatures in my mind's eye. This ain't no ordinary tower - whatever's at its heart, it's drawing power from somewhere deep. I shiver, though not just from the chill night air. "Seraphine!" I call out, my voice hushed. "You got that map of the ground floor? Might need to rethink our entry point if them wards are feeding off somethin' inside."

I glance back at Halie and Varrika, worry etched in the lines of my face. "Whatever we're dealin' with here, it's no ordinary magic. Best be ready for a fight."

Seraphine

Seraphine · Wizard

I pull out my notes on the tower's arcane history, flipping through pages covered in meticulous scribbling. The air here feels thick, heavy with an ancient power that makes my skin crawl.
"The library scrolls spoke of this place as a 'tower of hungry stone'," I murmur, more to myself than anyone else. "They said its very walls draw life and magic into themselves."
I look up at the looming structure, its dark windows seeming to stare back at us. A shiver runs down my spine.
"This is no ordinary tower. We cannot simply burst in—these wards are not just barriers, they're a system. A living thing."
