The tower's ancient magic pulsed awake with a fresh surge of dark energy, answered by the desperate cries from below and above. The wards that once protected this place now fed its corruption, and no one could mistake the change for anything but trouble.

Jeane found herself trapped in a stone hell, her powerful wings useless in the cramped space. The air grew thin and cold, stealing her breath with each passing moment. Something had moved down here—she was certain of it—and the thought sent ice through her veins. She shouted up through the floor, her voice echoing off smooth stones that seemed to absorb sound rather than reflect it.

"Halie! Varrika! I'm trapped below you—in a pit with no visible exits! Something moved down here, I heard it clearly! There's another disturbance!" Her crimson eyes strained in the darkness, searching for any sign of movement or escape. The pressure in her chest wasn't just from the thinning air—it was the primal fear of being helpless in an enemy's lair.

Merrin fumbled with her tinderbox, desperate to bring light into this hellish pit. The flame finally caught, casting flickering shadows that did little to ease her terror. She leveled her crossbow, scanning the darkness for any sign of Jeane or the source of that disturbing sound. The runes on the walls pulsed with an eerie green light, each beat sending a fresh wave of dread through her.

"I need air soon or I'll pass out!" Jeane's voice called up again, filled with panic. "The ward stopped pulsing but something bigger took its place! I need help before whatever's down here decides to investigate the noise we're making!"

Up above, Seraphine felt the shift in the tower's atmosphere like a physical weight pressing down. She watched Varrika level her crossbow at the undead creature grappling Halie, her sharp eyes taking in every detail of the deadly struggle. The air grew colder, charged with an ancient malevolence that made her skin prickle.

"Varrika! Get that rope ready now!" she called out, her voice cutting through the tension. "We need to secure Halie and prepare for whatever else might be coming." Her gaze darted around the chamber, taking in the glowing runes etched into the stone walls. They pulsed with a sickly green light, responding to the disturbance like a living thing.

The floor beneath them seemed to shift slightly—was it her imagination or was the entire structure unstable? The wards that once protected this place now fed its corruption, and she knew they were playing with forces far beyond their understanding.
