Round 12 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

At The base of a crumbling stone tower, the pressure shifts from waiting to immediate risk. The ward answers the party's presence with a fresh pulse through the stone and no one can mistake it for safety. The nearest sign of danger is now Skeletons: Undead remnants of the tower's original defenders, now animated by dark magic to endlessly guard their ancient home.. Someone has to answer that change now.
The ward pulses against my skin like a sick heartbeat. These aren't mindless things shambling out of their graves—they're coordinated. Somebody—or something—is pulling strings in this tower. We need to map skeleton patrol routes first, identify any command center before we commit. Merrin, keep the crossbow ready but don't fire unless I give word. Varikka, use that halfling stealth for now over brute force. Halie, keep the holy symbol visible but not activated yet—let's see if they're sensitive to it. I'm casting a subtle spell to mark their movement patterns. If there's a dark sorcerer upstairs, we need to know before blundering in.
My grip tightens on my crossbow as Varrika leads us into the crumbling stone tower. The air is thick with the weight of history and the sour tang of dark magic. I can feel the pulse of the ward against my skin like a sick heartbeat. "Stay sharp, everyone," I mutter, scanning the shadows for any sign of movement. "Something's got these bones riled up."
My eyes dart to Halie, checking that her holy symbol is at the ready. We're going to need all the protection we can get in here. I keep my crossbow trained on the corridor ahead, finger hovering over the trigger. The tower's history bears down on us like a physical weight. I can practically feel the eyes of the long-dead defenders watching from the shadows. But there's something else here too - a fresh pulse of magic that makes my skin crawl. I exchange a look with Jeane, trying to read her expression in the dim light. She seems as uneasy as I feel. We need to be careful here - one wrong move could be our last. "Let's see what this place has got in store for us," I say, stepping forward into the unknown. The tower seems to sigh around us, ancient stones settling under our feet. I keep my crossbow ready, senses on high alert. Whatever dark sorcerer or entity is at work here, we're going to need more than just blades and bullets to take them down. The tower looms ahead of us, its crumbling stones dripping with ominous shadows. I can feel the weight of history bearing down on my shoulders as I step forward, crossbow at the ready. Halie's holy symbol gleams faintly in the gloom beside me, a beacon of light against the encroaching darkness. Jeane marks patterns and watches for command signals, her eyes narrowing as she studies the movements of our undead foes. I keep my grip tight on the crossbow, finger hovering over the trigger. One wrong move could be our last in this place. The air is thick with the sour tang of dark magic, and I can feel the pulse of the ward against my skin like a sick heartbeat. The tower seems to sigh around us as we advance, ancient stones settling under our feet. I keep my eyes peeled for traps and hidden dangers, mindful of the history that haunts these halls. Whatever dark sorcerer or entity is at work here, we're going to need more than just blades and bullets to take them down. But for now, all we can do is keep moving forward, one careful step at a time. "Let's see what this place has got in store for us," I say, stepping into the unknown. The darkness seems to reach out, trying to pull me in. But I keep my crossbow steady and my eyes on the prize. We've come too far to turn back now.
