Halie's voice cuts through the oppressive silence around the crumbling tower entrance. "I'll document the runes from here—Merrin, keep your tools back until we understand what triggers this thing." The weary cleric's blue-grey eyes fix on the ancient symbols covering the gate, her expression a blend of scholarly curiosity and deep unease. She inches closer with her journal, pencil poised, maintaining a careful distance from the writhing stone surface.

Jeane circles the perimeter once more, her crimson eyes scanning every inch of the weathered stones. "I've circled enough," she mutters, more to herself than anyone else. "The stones feel wrong—cold in a way that burns with ancient power." The succubus's wings shift restlessly behind her back as she continues, voice tight with barely contained anxiety. "Whatever feeds this ward is awake now, and it's hungry for something more substantial than our simple trespass."

Seraphine, the elven wizard, has already turned away from the gate, her sharp gaze sweeping the tower's base in search of alternative entrances. The air here feels heavy, charged with some ancient, malevolent purpose. Every instinct screams at her to flee, but the lure of knowledge is stronger. The runes... they're alive somehow. Their hunger is palpable, a desperate clawing at the edges of her mind. Whatever lies beyond this barrier must be truly extraordinary—or truly horrifying.

The three women exchange glances, each weighing the risks against their shared purpose. The Whispering Woods press in around them, ancient and untamed, offering no easy answers.
