The tension in The base of a crumbling stone tower, its entrance sealed by an ancient rune-covered gate, deep within the haunted Whispering Woods tightens for a beat as the interruption refuses to go away. Everyone is forced to stay quiet and choose their next move carefully.

Jeane

Jeane · Sorcerer

I trace the runes with my finger, feeling them pulse like infected veins beneath my touch. These aren't mere warnings—they're alive, and they're hungry. Merrin's wound pulses in sync now, her blood singing a dark melody to something buried deep within this stone. Elric: if you know anything about this field—anything at all—I don't care what it is or how you learned it—now would be an excellent time to share it with the rest of us.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

I crouch by Merrin's side, examining her wound with grim focus. The dark energy pulses, in sync with the writhing runes on the gate. I feel the hunger of the barrier field, its insatiable appetite for life force.

Seraphine

Seraphine · Wizard

I approach the ancient gate, my senses heightened by the oppressive aura emanating from its runes. The symbols pulse like infected veins beneath my gaze—they aren’t mere warnings, they’re alive.
I trace a delicate finger along one of the runes, feeling an immediate sting, as if the stone itself recoils at my touch. It’s a predatory energy, hungry and insatiable.
The barrier field hums with a dark power, its edges blurring into the air around us. I can almost see it now—a living, breathing thing, a predator waiting to devour what it desires most: life force. And Merrin... her wound pulses in sync with them now, her blood singing a dark melody to something buried deep within this stone.
I turn to face Elric, my expression grave. "This field... it's not just a magical defense. It's alive. And it’s drawn to the energy of a living being."
My eyes flicker to Merrin, who stands near the gate’s edge, her leg wound a seeping black void in the dim light. The air around her feels thick with malevolent intent.
I step closer to Elric, lowering my voice to a strained whisper. "We need to act fast. If we don’t stop this, that field will consume her completely."
