Seraphine took a step back from the exposed corridor, her eyes fixed on the intricate sigils etched into the stone. The air around her seemed to grow colder, and she could feel the ground beneath their feet shudders again. A faint hum of dark energy emanated from the runes, and rubble shifted around Halie's trapped form, making it even more precarious for Jeane to reach them.

A chunk of debris crashed to the ground mere feet away from Merrin, sending her stumbling back with a grunt of pain. The heavy mace slipped from her grasp as she caught herself against the crumbling wall, her scraped knee protesting the sudden movement.

Jeane stepped forward, her wings half-spread as if instinctively seeking protection from whatever lurked beyond those ancient seals. She closed her eyes, channeling her arcane sight, and when she opened them again, her crimson gaze was fixed on the pulsating sigils with an expression of growing horror.

"Those seals pulse with an energy that feels wrong," Jeane said, her voice barely above a whisper as she stepped back instinctively. "The containment is elaborate for a reason—whatever's inside is dangerous beyond measure." We need to find another way up this tower, not stumble into whatever demonic entity they've sealed away here.

Merrin peered into the dark corridor, her eyes darting over the pulsing runes. A chill ran down her spine as she took in the ancient sigils, their malevolent energy palpable in the air. She stepped back, her hand instinctively reaching for her crossbow.

"Those seals... they're not just for show," Merrin muttered, more to herself than anyone else. "Whatever's behind them, it's not something we want to mess with." She looked around at her companions, her expression grim but determined. "Halie's life is on the line—we can't afford to be reckless."

I'm apprehensive about the whole situation, Jeane thought, but Halie needs us. The idea of facing whatever lay beyond those seals filled her with dread, but the thought of abandoning their friend was unthinkable. She knew she had to prepare, to have counter-spells ready in case they encountered something truly malevolent.

This is bad, Merrin thought, her rogue instincts screaming at her to turn back. But Halie's down there. The weight of responsibility settled heavy on her shoulders—she was their scout, their eyes and ears in the darkness. She couldn't let fear paralyze her now, not when they needed every advantage they could get.

We need a plan, Seraphine thought, her scholarly mind racing. Something that doesn't involve walking into a demonic prison. The air around them felt wrong, heavy with an ancient malevolence that made it hard to breathe. She knew they had to be careful, had to think this through before rushing blindly into danger.

The ground shifted again, more rubble cascading downwards. They were running out of time—every moment spent hesitating was another moment Halie remained trapped and vulnerable. The three women exchanged glances, silent communication passing between them—a shared understanding that they were about to face something far beyond their usual dangers.

We have to do this, Jeane thought, squaring her shoulders. Together. She knew the risks, knew the odds were stacked against them, but she also knew that facing evil with friends by your side was always better than facing it alone.

Let's find a way around those seals, Merrin suggested, her voice tight but determined. There has to be another route up this tower—something less... obvious. She scanned the walls, looking for any sign of a hidden passage or alternate path. Her rogue's eye for detail was their best hope now.

Agreed, Seraphine nodded, her mind already racing through possibilities. We need to map this place carefully before proceeding further. She pulled out her spellbook and a piece of parchment, ready to document every detail of the tower's interior. Knowledge was their greatest weapon against whatever lay ahead.

The three women moved forward cautiously, each contributing their unique skills to the task at hand—Jeane using her arcane sight to detect hidden magical traps, Merrin searching for secret doors or weak points in the structure, and Seraphine meticulously recording every detail of their surroundings. Together, they were a formidable team, even against the ancient evils that slept within these crumbling walls.

We'll find Halie, Jeane thought, her resolve strengthening with each careful step. And we'll make whoever—or whatever—kept her down there pay.

One step at a time, Merrin reminded herself, her hand never far from her crossbow. Stay alert, stay alive. The corridor ahead stretched into darkness, the pulsing sigils casting eerie shadows on the walls. But they had each other, and that was all they needed to face whatever lay beyond.

We have the skills, the determination, and the bond of friendship, Seraphine thought as she carefully documented another section of the wall. Let's put them to use. She knew the dangers were immense, but she also knew that true courage wasn't about being fearless—it was about facing your fears with purpose.

The air grew colder still as they pressed onward, the weight of ancient malevolence pressing down upon them. But together, they would face whatever horrors awaited in the depths of this cursed tower.
