Round 76 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

The tension in The base of a crumbling stone tower tightens for a beat as the interruption refuses to go away. Everyone is forced to stay quiet and choose their next move carefully.
I hold up a hand, signaling for silence as I listen intently to the eerie creaking of the ancient stone above us. The air in this crumbling tower is thick with an oppressive energy that seems to press down on my lungs, making each breath a conscious effort. It feels like we've stepped into the very throat of something malevolent and vast, something that has been waiting for our intrusion. A shiver runs down my spine as I consider Merrin's words - this place doesn't want us here.
My eyes dart around the shadowed chamber, taking in the cracked flagstones and the heavy wooden door at the far end, its iron hinges rusted shut. I can almost feel the magic pulsing through the walls, a dark resonance that sets my teeth on edge. It's a power I recognize, one I've studied in forbidden tomes, but experiencing it firsthand is an entirely different matter.
I turn to face Jeane, her expression grim and determined under the flickering torchlight. "The cursed corridor," I say, my voice a low murmur that barely carries over the groans of the settling structure. "It's not just the demonic energy we need to avoid, but this entire place seems... alive with a malevolence we haven't accounted for."
I gesture towards the heavy door, then back at Merrin's scraped knee. "These injuries aren't random. They are messages from the tower itself. We must tread carefully, or we risk becoming part of its history instead of finding what we came for."*
I feel the wrongness here on my skin, like old blood and colder intent. The Time-Splitting Sword is above us—that much the stars have shown me clear—but this place hums with corruption that makes even my demon-blood curdle. Halie, your eyes are sharper than mine for these spiritual violations—what do you sense in that cursed corridor? Is it simply demon-signs or something worse wearing them like old robes? Varrika and Seraphine, I want a full circuit of the perimeter before we commit to climbing this bone-staircase. Find me an alternative route up—a window, a service passage, anything that doesn't lead us straight into whatever psychic filth is bleeding through those walls. Merrin, your knee needs proper tending—drink some of my special brew, it'll seal the wound and leave you steady for when we need you sharp again. The air here tastes of iron and old grief—I don't like it one bit—but the stars demand blood-price for such artifacts, and we're the fools collecting the tab.
I crouch beside Merrin, pulling out my last healing potion. "This stone is bleeding its corruption into you," I say softly. "We need to bind this wound properly before it takes root." I begin cleaning her knee with the cleanest edge of my cloak. The air tastes wrong here—it's not just the smell of decay, but like the very medium has been stretched thin and sewn back together poorly. I can feel the tower's pulse beneath us now, a slow beat that wants to drown out our own heartbeats. "Jeane," I say without looking up from Merrin's knee, "I understand we need to proceed, but that corridor feels like a mouth waiting for prey. Let Varrika and Seraphine map the perimeter—we'll need to know every stone before we trust it." The stone beneath my hand feels warm, too warm. "And if you feel even a crack in the foundation," I add, looking up at her now, "tell us immediately. This place is hungry for carelessness."
I finish binding Merrin's knee and stand. "Rest here with Seraphine—keep the light high." My heavy mace feels heavier than usual today. "Let me speak with Varrika about the stones we should avoid." The corruption in this place is deep, and I need to understand its hunger before it understands ours. The air around us shifts as we move deeper into the tower's shadow, and the wrongness grows teeth.
