The air in the crumbling stone tower's secret chamber feels thick and wrong, heavy with the scent of decay and something older, more malevolent. Seraphine traces the ancient script on the parchment with a trembling finger, her sharp eyes struggling to decipher the cryptic warnings about time-splitting power and its shadowy price.

Jeane speaks up, her voice tight with barely contained revulsion. "I can taste this place's wrongness on my tongue—rot and brimstone clinging to every stone. The air itself is thick with dark magic residue." She turns to face the others, her crimson eyes gleaming in the gloom. "We need to find another way up. That corridor is a deathtrap waiting to snap shut."

Merrin takes a few steps back from the tower's mouth, rubbing at her injured knee. The air still feels thick with dark sorcery, but she forces herself to focus on the practical matters. "Alright, everyone listen up," she says, her voice low and serious. "We need a plan." She points to a crumbling section of wall near the entrance. "Halie, Varrika, see if you can spot any loose stones there. Might be a hidden passage."

The halfling's dark eyes scan the area, looking for any sign of weakness in the ancient stonework. Her quick hands itch to investigate further, but caution wins out—at least for now. She turns back to the others, her expression grim. "You two keep working on that map and message," she tells Jeane and Seraphine. "We need to know what we're walking into." Her gaze lingers on the ominous stairs descending into darkness. "I'll take point down there—if anyone's going to trigger a trap, it should be me."

The tension in the air seems to thicken further as they consider their next move. The tower groans around them, settling like a sleeping giant disturbed by their presence.
