Halie's hands glow with a soft blue light as she purifies the ground floor, her eyes scanning the area for any remaining malevolent energy. The air seems to clear slightly, and the creaking of the stone floor slows to a mere whisper. However, as she finishes, a faint, eerie green glow begins to emanate from the walls, pulsing in time with the faint whispers that seemed to have retreated earlier. The sound is almost imperceptible, but it sends a shiver down Halie's spine. As the glow intensifies, the ground floor's torches flicker more erratically, casting eerie shadows on the walls. The air seems heavy with an unseen presence, and the party can feel the weight of the tower's dark history bearing down upon them.

Seraphine

Seraphine · Wizard

I stand at the base of the crumbling tower, my keen elven eyes scanning the eerie green glow now pulsing in the air where Halie's purification should have banished the malevolent energy.
My heart hammers against my ribs as a low, guttural whispering seems to emanate from deep within the stone itself, a sound that chills me to the bone. This is no ordinary haunted place; the dark sorcery here is thick and cloying, pressing down on us all like a suffocating blanket.
"I fear this ritual was merely a temporary respite," I murmur, my voice so low it's almost inaudible over the creaking of old stone. "The tower itself... it's aware of us now."
I turn to face the party, my expression grim. The silver holy symbol at my throat feels suddenly cold against my skin.
"The runes, they weren't just decoration or wards—they were a warning sign. And we... we have just announced our presence to whatever power lies within."
My gaze flicks to Jeane, her wings still partially spread in a protective stance, then to Varrika, whose hand rests on the hilt of her sword.
"Whatever our goal was, however noble or desperate, we must now proceed with utmost caution. The Time-Splitting Sword may be our objective, but surviving this place could become our greatest challenge yet."
I take a deep breath, steeling myself as I reach for the heavy mace strapped to my back. The weight of it is comforting, a tangible reminder of my purpose here.
"We have no choice now. The path ahead is fraught with danger, and we must face it head-on if we hope to succeed. But remember this: some powers are prisons wearing crowns. Let us not be lured into a trap by the promise of an artifact we may not even understand."
My eyes meet Merrin's, a silent acknowledgment passing between us. The rogue’s instincts have always been sharp; perhaps she senses what I do—the tower is no longer just a structure, but a living, malevolent entity, and it has set its sights on us.

Jeane

Jeane · Sorcerer

I close my eyes briefly, feeling the pulse of dark magic through my wings. The sigils aren't mere decorations—they're feeding something far uglier. This entire structure feels... wrong. Halie, I need you to purify this space immediately. We can't proceed otherwise. Find every inch of those symbols and cleanse them completely. And Varrika—I don't care how many extra torches we burn, but find us another way up the tower before I change my mind and decide we torch everything below ground level just to be safe. The air here is thick with something that makes even my skin crawl—and that's saying something coming from a demon who's bathed in corruption. We need to move fast or whatever's lurking gets stronger.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

I see the faint green glow pulsing from the sigils, hear the whispers grow louder in my mind. This tower's magic is no mere trinket. Halie, your faith may be our shield against this darkness. Purify the space as best you can. Jeane, keep those keen eyes of yours peeled for any other traps or wards the dark powers may have left us. Varrika, if Halie's light fails to hold back the shadows, I'll need you to watch our backs. There's no telling what might lurk in the corners once we start disturbing this place. As for me, I'll try to find a safe path up. Maybe there's a hidden stair or secret door that'll let us slip past whatever horrors guard the sword. The last thing we need is to stumble into a fight blind and deaf. This whole tower feels like it's waiting to swallow us alive. But if the Goddess wills it, her chosen will prevail. We've made it this far, haven't we? So let's get moving before my nerves get the better of me.
