As the party pushes through the thorny thicket, scratching noises grow louder. Thorns snag at clothing, and the air fills with the sweet scent of blooming wildflowers, but also the faint tang of decay. The thorns part, revealing a narrow, winding path that snakes along the tower's wall, disappearing into the darkness of the upper levels. Suddenly, a gust of wind whips through the thicket, extinguishing torches and sending shivers down the spines of the party members. The sound of scuttling, like the rustle of dry leaves, comes from above, growing louder with each passing moment. It's as if something is moving through the darkness, searching for an unsuspecting target. The group must now decide how to proceed: continue up the winding path, or wait and observe to gather more information about the potential threat.

I don't like this place. The air feels wrong—like reality itself is bruised here. Those thorns aren't natural. And what's making those sounds? We're not ready to rush blindly into a puzzle chamber we can barely see. Let's wait, listen, and watch for patterns before we commit ourselves fully to whatever's waiting inside. I'm not being afraid—just practical. Merrin, I know you want to explore, but remember why we're here: to survive this place with the sword and each other. Rushing in is how people die in stories like this. Let's be smarter than that.

I feel it too—this place is wrong. The air tastes of decay and old magic gone rotten. Those sigils in the stone, pulsing like diseased hearts? I've seen their kind before in forbidden tomes. Something ancient and hungry sleeps below us. We should find Elric again. He might know a safer route around this section—before night fully sets in and whatever makes those scuttling sounds grows bolder. I'm not risking all our necks for some magical blade, no matter how powerful it's supposed to be.

Merrin · Rogue

I peer around the crumbling corner of the tower, senses on high alert as I scan for any signs of movement or danger. The air is thick with tension, and I can practically taste the decaying magic on my tongue. It's enough to make my stomach churn. But we've come this far, and I'm not about to turn back now. Not when we're so close to retrieving that blasted sword. I turn to face the others, a determined look on my face. "Alright, you lot," I say, trying to keep my voice steady despite the fear that's threatening to overwhelm me. "Looks like we've got ourselves a puzzle to solve."

I step forward into the unknown, heart pounding with fear and excitement. I know we're walking into danger, but what choice do we have? The path behind us is just as treacherous as the one ahead. I grip my crowbar tighter, ready for whatever lies in wait. "Stay sharp," I mutter to myself as I take another step forward, into the darkness that beckons beyond the crumbling walls of the tower.
