The tension in The base of a crumbling stone tower tightens for a beat as the interruption refuses to go away. Everyone is forced to stay quiet and choose their next move carefully.

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

Varrika peers into the hidden corridor, her weathered hands tightening around the haft of her heavy mace. The air feels thick and wrong, like it's pressing down on her lungs with each breath. "This doesn't sit right," she grunts. "Whatever sorcery is at work here, it's not natural. We should proceed with caution."

She steps forward, the rough stone scraping under her boots. "Halie, keep that holy symbol ready. Might need its light to ward off whatever shadows lurk in this accursed place."

Varrika's eyes scan the pulsing runes etched into the walls. "And Seraphine, if you can make sense of those blasted symbols before they drive us all mad, speak up quick." She pauses, feeling a shudder ripple down her spine at the malevolent energy seeping through the corridor. "We've come too far to turn back now. But we'll be walking into the jaws of some dark beast if we're not careful."

She takes another step forward, her muscles coiled tight and ready for whatever horrors may spring from the darkness ahead. "Merrin, stick close. We'll watch each other's backs in this cursed place."

Varrika's voice is a low growl, her words laden with the weight of hard-won experience. "Whatever we face in here, we face it together. The tower's secrets may be buried, but our blades and our wits will not be. Now move."

Jeane

Jeane · Sorcerer

Jeane's crimson eyes scan the corridor with a focus born of years spent unraveling the darkest spells. The air here tastes wrong—old decay and something else, like crushed metal. The runes on the walls aren't just decoration; they're breathing. "I don't like this," she says, her voice barely above a whisper despite its commanding tone. "The magic in this place is ancient and twisted. Whatever those sorcerers did here, it's left a stain that clings to everything." She raises her silver holy symbol, the metal heating slightly in her palm as if reacting to the corruption around them. Varrika peers into the gloom beside her. "So we turn back?" The fighter's tone makes it clear she knows what Jeane will say before the words even leave her mouth. "No," Jeane replies without hesitation. "We've come too far to let a bit of bad feeling scare us off. But we proceed with extreme caution." She turns to face the others, her dark leather wings shifting slightly behind her. "Merrin, I want you and Varrika to check the floor for pressure plates or triggers. Seraphine, keep analyzing those runes—we need to understand what we're dealing with here before we stumble into a trap." Her gaze lands on Halie. "Halie, prepare a counter-spell using your holy symbol. Whatever we face in here, I want us ready."

The countdown timer ticks down: 12 seconds. Jeane's hand moves to her crossbow instinctively, though she knows the close quarters of this corridor would make it nearly useless against whatever might emerge. "And stay together," she adds, a rare note of concern creeping into her voice. "If this place is half as dangerous as I think it is, we'll need every sword and spell ready."

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

Merrin takes a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart as she peers into the darkness of the hidden corridor. The air feels thick and heavy, pressing down on her like a physical weight. She can feel the hairs on the back of her neck standing on end, a primal instinct screaming at her to turn back. But they've come too far to turn back now. The tower looms before them, its ancient stones pulsing with an otherworldly energy. Merrin knows that whatever secrets lie within those walls, they could be the key to unlocking the mysteries that have haunted her for years. With a nod to Varrika, Merrin steps forward, her hand gripping the hilt of her mace. The corridor stretches out before them, the shadows growing deeper with each step. But Merrin doesn't hesitate. She knows that her friends are counting on her, and she won't let them down. As they move deeper into the corridor, Merrin's eyes scan the walls, looking for any sign of hidden traps or triggers. The runes etched into the stone seem to pulse with an otherworldly energy, and Merrin can feel a sense of unease settling over her like a shroud. But she pushes forward, her senses on high alert. She knows that whatever lies ahead, they'll face it together. And with luck and skill, they just might make it out of this accursed place alive. "Stay sharp," Merrin whispers to Varrika, her eyes never leaving the shadows ahead. "And keep your eyes peeled for anything that looks out of place. In a place like this, even the walls have secrets."
