Narrator

Narrator · Narrator

As Seraphine stands before the ancient runes, Varrika readies herself for the door-bashing task, while Halie senses the air for any anomalies. Jeane circles the tower's base, scanning for hidden threats and mapping the ground floor's layout. Merrin assigns tasks to her companions, her voice steady despite the growing tension. Suddenly, a low, mournful whisper echoes through the air, causing the party to pause. The words are indistinguishable, but the tone is unmistakably malevolent. The runes on the ground begin to glow with an eerie, pulsing light, as if responding to the darkness. Varrika's eyes narrow, her hand tightening on the hilt of her sword. The ground beneath them shudders, and a section of the stone wall slides open, revealing a dimly lit corridor beyond. The air that wafts out is heavy with the scent of decay and corruption. A faint hum of magical energy emanates from the corridor, growing louder with each passing moment.

Jeane

Jeane · Sorcerer

I circle the tower's base slowly, my crimson eyes scanning every stone for signs of corruption or hidden magic. The air grows thicker with each pass—dark energy clinging to these ancient walls like cobwebs spun from shadow itself. The sorcery used here is old and vile, twisting the natural flow of time into something unnatural. Those skeletons we saw earlier aren't just mindless bone-puppets; someone—or something—keeps them animated, likely tied to the tower's dark heart. I don't sense any demons yet, but that doesn't mean they're not here. Demonic presence has a particular stink to it, and this place is fouler than a goblin latrine—but so far, no distinct demonic signatures cut through the rot. The runes on the ground pulse with malevolent light now, responding to whatever force just spoke in that malevolent whisper. This could be a trap—or an invitation. Either way, we need to decide our next move carefully.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

Merrin's eyes dart to the opening in the wall, her breath catching in her throat. "Well, well," she mutters, reaching for her crossbow, "looks like our friendly neighborhood tower has a surprise for us." She takes a cautious step forward, scanning the dim corridor for any signs of movement or threat. "Alright, listen up," Merrin says, her voice tight with tension. "I'm going to take point and scope out this new tunnel. Jeane, I want you on my six with that sorcery of yours at the ready. Halie, keep your eyes peeled for any weird magical signatures. And Varrika..." She glances at the burly warrior, a wry smile tugging at her lips. "Well, if anything comes charging out of there, you're up front and center to keep it at bay."

Merrin takes a deep breath, steeling herself. "Let's move out. Slow and steady, folks. We've no idea what might be lurking in there." With that, she steps into the opening, crossbow at the ready, her eyes probing the shadows ahead for any sign of danger.

Seraphine

Seraphine · Wizard

I rise from my crouch before the runes, brushing dust from my robes as I turn to face the others, my expression grave yet resolute.
"I have seen such wards before, in books only, whispered of in forbidden tomes. The sorcery used here was not born of simple defense; these are not mere barriers against intruders. These are wards against the very nature of time itself."
My gaze sweeps over the crumbling stone, the ancient magic clinging to its surface like a second skin. I feel a chill trace its way down my spine, a primal fear of the unknown power we’re about to confront.
"To disrupt the flow of time... it would unravel the very fabric of reality around us. We must tread carefully here, for what we seek may be guarded by forces beyond our mortal comprehension."
I take a step closer to the group, my voice dropping to a near-whisper, meant only for those who stand with me in this dark hour.
"Stay close, stay alert, and watch each other's backs. We enter together, as one, but if any see shadow demons... we run like hell."
