Round 14

As Varrika approached the partially cracked gate, her heavy boots echoed against the stone floor, her eyes narrowing as she studied the widening fissures and the faint blue light seeping through. Merrin's keen eye had spotted a faint fissure along the ward's seam, indicating a potential weakness, yet the gate's core remained intact and sealed. The ward's protective hum persisted, though slightly diminished, leaving the team with a marginally more vulnerable but still formidable barrier.

Varrika's voice cut through the silence, her words laced with caution. "We need to be careful here," she said, her eyes scanning the gate for any hidden mechanisms or pressure plates. Jeane stepped forward, her wings folding neatly behind her as she examined the gate with a practiced eye, her voice carrying an air of authority. "Everyone, halt. Do not touch any runes until we understand the full sequence." Merrin's fingers traced the rune connections without activating them, searching for any hidden patterns or interdependencies that would reveal the sequence.

Halie moved closer, her silver holy symbol at the ready, her gaze fixed on the gate as she prepared to bless it if needed. Jeane continued to study the pattern, her crimson eyes narrowing as she analyzed the complex elven work. The team's focus was unwavering, their determination to unlock the gate and proceed fueled by their growing understanding of the ward's structure and their own resourcefulness.
