Round 8 Transcript

Jeane’s eyes flicker as the silver lines of the ward pulse beneath her palms, and a translucent web of glyphs unfurls across the stone floor, mapping the pressure plate’s trigger mechanism and the hidden spike pit beneath it.

Jeane’s eyes flicker as she traces the glyphs with her eyes, reading their ancient warnings and mapping the trap’s full extent. The pressure plate triggers a volley of skeletal arrows from hidden slots above—the classic ambush—but beneath it, like an afterthought of cruelty, lies a secondary spike pit. She notes the weight needed to trigger each mechanism separately: different for the arrow trap versus the impalement below. Too heavy together and both spring—an elegant design for maximum lethality.
