The flickering candlelight casts eerie shadows across the cracked stone walls of the ruined chapel's war room. The air is heavy with the scent of damp earth and decay. Heavy wooden beams overhead creak in the gentle breeze outside, as distant thunder rumbles through the Whispering Woods. Jeane, Halie, Varrika, Seraphine, and Merrin sit around a sturdy oak table, their weary faces illuminated by the soft glow of candles.

The DM sits at the head of the table, hands clasped together in a gesture of contemplation. "Friends, we've made it to this point through sheer determination and luck. We've managed to reach the safety of this war room, and I'm proud of each and every one of you." A brief pause, before the DM continues, "However, our journey is far from over. The Time-Splitting Sword still beckons us, but we're well aware that the tower itself is a formidable foe."

A faint, cold violet light emanates from the ancient rune-covered gate outside, casting an otherworldly glow across the room. The DM's voice takes on a serious tone, "We've been hired to retrieve this powerful artifact, but every tale speaks of undead guardians, dark sorcerers, and travelers who returned older, madder, or not at all. The risks are real, and we must be prepared."

The DM pauses, surveying the assembled party before focusing on each member individually. "We've come this far together, but it's crucial that we agree on our approach and expectations. Success won't come without its costs, and failure could mean more than just loss of gear or lives."

The room falls silent as the party considers the DM's words. The air is thick with anticipation, and the only sound is the distant rumble of thunder outside, a reminder that their journey into the unknown is about to begin.

The DM's gaze meets each member of the party, searching for any sign of hesitation or doubt. "We've been hired to retrieve the Time-Splitting Sword, but we must be clear on what we're getting ourselves into. The tower is said to be filled with undead minions and dark magic. We'll need to be prepared for anything that comes our way."

The DM pauses, letting the weight of their words sink in. "We know that each of you has unique skills and abilities. Jeane, your magical prowess will be invaluable in navigating the tower's dangers. Halie, your faith will provide us with a beacon of hope in times of darkness. Merrin, your stealth and cunning will allow us to sneak past our enemies undetected. Seraphine, your knowledge of the arcane will help us unlock the secrets of the tower. And Varrika, your battle prowess will be crucial in defending us against the undead hordes."

The DM leans forward, their eyes locked on the party. "So, I ask you: are we all committed to this quest? Are we willing to face whatever dangers lie within the tower and retrieve the Time-Splitting Sword?"

The DM's gaze meets each member of the party, waiting for their response.

J

Jeane · Sorcerer

Jeane Cromwell leans forward across the table, her crimson eyes gleaming in the candlelight. I will participate and lead this venture into the tower.

H

Halie · Cleric

I look at each person in turn before responding, my hand still gripping the holy symbol. I will participate, but we must have a clear plan to handle both undead and potential demonic threats. And if we encounter anyone who seems... off... we need to be ready to defend ourselves immediately.

M

Merrin · Rogue

I nod slowly, a wry smile playing across my lips even as I feel a prickle of unease run down my spine. Well, well... if we're all in agreement, then it seems we've got ourselves a plan. I chuckle softly, but there's an edge of tension in my voice. I'll keep my eyes peeled for traps and hidden dangers. And if any of those shadow demons show up... I let the unspoken implication hang in the air, my hand unconsciously drifting towards the hilt of my dagger. ...just remember, I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty.

S

Seraphine · Wizard

I take a slow, deliberate breath, steadying myself before I speak. I will participate, but with certain conditions. We must have a firm understanding of the tower's layout, its guardians, and the nature of the Time-Splitting Sword itself. I push my chair back slightly, the heavy wood scraping against the stone floor. My magic can be a powerful tool against undead and dark sorcery, but only if we use it strategically. We should prepare for every eventuality - traps, ambushes, even... I hesitate, my voice dropping to a near whisper ...possibilities beyond our current understanding of magic.

V

Varrika · Fighter

Varrika leans forward, her scarred hands gripping the edge of the table tightly. I'll participate, but I've got conditions too. We need to be clear on our goals and how we're gonna handle any obstacles in our path. I want a solid plan for dealing with the undead - smash 'em hard, smash 'em fast. And if these shadow demons are real... Her voice rumbles deep in her chest, a growl of determination. ...we need to be ready to burn the tower down around us if that's what it takes to stop them.
