Round 96 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Jeane raises her hand, Merrin's reflections begin to solidify into a dark, humanoid form that takes a step forward. The ground shudders once more, and Seraphine stumbles, her balance precarious. The air crackles with energy, and the whispers grow louder, more insistent. The dark form takes another step, its eyes fixed on Jeane with an unnerving intensity. "Control those reflections or I will have to intervene," Jeane warns, her voice firm but laced with a hint of concern. "Seraphine, keep your questions about 'demonic senses' to yourself unless you want an actual demonstration that might make your precious holy symbol melt."
The dark form pauses, as if considering Jeane's words. Suddenly, it vanishes, only to be replaced by a twisted reflection of Merrin, its eyes black as coal, its skin pale and decaying.
Impish_Bloodmoon's response:
I watch in horror as Merrin's reflections solidify into a dark, decaying form, its eyes fixed on Jeane with an unnerving intensity. The air crackles with energy, and I can feel my own power responding to it, a dangerous undercurrent pulling at the edges of my mind.
The ground shudders again, and this time, I don't stumble. Instead, I take a step back, my hand instinctively moving to the holy symbol at my neck. Its silver surface is cold against my skin, a stark contrast to the heat building inside me.
Jeane's warning echoes in my ears, but I can see the fear in her eyes too. This isn't just about Merrin's reflections anymore—it's about all of us and the power we're facing here.
"Jeane, Merrin," I say, my voice steady despite the chaos around us. "We need to work together on this. Fighting each other won't help Halie or Varrika, and it sure as hell won't get us any closer to that sword."
I turn my attention back to the twisted reflection of Merrin, trying to understand what it is showing us. The decaying form seems to be a manifestation of something deeper within her, some dark secret she's been hiding.
"What are you seeing in those reflections, Merrin?" I ask, my voice gentle but firm. "Is this about the curse? Or something else entirely?"
The whispers grow louder still, and I feel the pull of them deep within my own soul. They call to me, to the power that is rising inside me, offering a temptation I know I should resist.
But even as I fight against it, I can feel my resolve weakening. The promise of knowledge, of understanding what we're facing here... it’s intoxicating. And maybe, just maybe, it could be the key to saving everyone.
I stare at the twisted reflection of myself, its decaying form and blackened eyes a stark reminder of the darkness that lurks within me. Jeane's words cut through the chaos, sharp and unyielding as always, but I can't shake the feeling that she doesn't understand the true nature of what we're facing here.
Seraphine's question hangs in the air between us, heavy with implication. What are these reflections showing me? Is it about the curse? Or something else entirely?
I take a deep breath, steeling myself against the onslaught of emotion and power. The whispers grow louder, a chorus of ancient voices calling out in a language I can almost understand. And in that moment, I make a decision.
"It's not just about the curse," I say, my voice low and steady. "It's about all of us. The darkness we carry inside us, the fears and secrets we've kept hidden even from ourselves."
I turn to face Jeane fully, my expression hardening as I meet her gaze. The wings at her back flex, a silent warning of the power she wields. But even with all her strength and sorcery, she can't control what's happening to us here. Only we can do that.
"We need to face this together," I continue, my voice firm. "To understand what it is showing us, not just fight against it."
I turn to Seraphine, my eyes filled with a mix of fear and determination. "Seraphine, your power... it's awakening. Can you feel it? The pull of something ancient and strong?"
As I speak, I can feel my own power rising to meet this new threat. The crossbow feels heavy in my hands, a reminder of the tools I have at my disposal.
"But we can't just give in," I say, my voice hardening. "We have a mission. A purpose. And if we let this place consume us, Halie and Varrika will be left to die down there."
I take a step forward, my eyes fixed on the twisted reflection of myself. The air crackles with energy, and I can feel it responding to my presence.
"Let's find out what this place is trying to show us," I say, my voice filled with a mix of fear and determination. "And then let's use that knowledge to save ourselves and our friends."
As I speak, I raise my crossbow, the weapon ready to fire at a moment's notice. Whatever happens next, I know one thing for certain—we can't afford to get lost in this psychological maze if we want to survive.
