The tension in Narrow ledge overlooking a deep chasm in the tower's lower levels tightens for a beat as the interruption refuses to go away. Everyone is forced to stay quiet and choose their next move carefully.

Jeane

Jeane · Sorcerer

Jeane hovers at the ledge's edge, her dark wings beating slowly as she surveys the situation with cold calculation. That insipid Halie—summoning a demon without proper safeguards, then losing control immediately. Typical. She'd better be alive down there, or I'll raise her corpse just to scold it. This is a fool's errand born of incompetence, but it's our only path forward now. Time to turn this disaster into an opportunity... or at least ensure someone else pays for it. She traces the edge of a silver dagger with one finger, her crimson eyes gleaming with barely contained impatience and calculation. Move, Zha'thik. Before this entire cursed tower becomes our grave. To Seraphine and Varrika, she adds coldly, Stay close. And whatever happens—do not let that demon out of your sight for an instant. The air grows thick with dust and anticipation as they prepare to re-enter the chasm's darkness. This had better be worth it, Jeane mutters under her breath, more to herself than to anyone else. If Halie survives this, I'm having a very long talk with her about competence and consequences.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

I take a deep breath, steeling myself as I watch Jeane issue her cold commands to Zha'thik. That woman is terrifying, but there's no denying the power she wields—both over the demon and over our entire group. My heart hammers against my ribs as I follow Jeane's lead, my crossbow at the ready. The air grows thick with dust and anticipation as we prepare to re-enter the chasm's darkness. Halie and Merrin are still out there, lost in the shadows. We've made our deal with the demon, and now we must face whatever consequences that may bring. I keep my eyes fixed on the shimmering portal before us, my mind racing through possibilities. Will Halie even be alive down there? And what about those skeletons I saw lurking in the shadows? This could be a suicide mission, but it's our only hope of rescue now. As Jeane snaps out her final orders, I nod grimly, my grip tightening on my crossbow. "Alright," I mutter under my breath, more to myself than to anyone else. "Time to see if this crazy plan of Jeane's actually works." With one last glance back at Seraphine and Varrika, I turn and plunge into the depths once more, my heart in my throat as the blue light envelops me. This is it—our last desperate gamble to survive this accursed tower. May the gods have mercy on our souls...

Seraphine

Seraphine · Wizard

I feel the familiar hum of arcane energy as I maintain the portal spell, my hands glowing faintly in the dim light of the ledge. Jeane's cold efficiency both terrifies and arouses me; she has a way of cutting through the chaos with ruthless precision, even when it means bargaining with demons or descending into certain danger. It's intoxicating to watch her take charge like this, to see the raw power in her crimson eyes as she commands Zha'thik with such authority.
My heart hammers against my ribs as I think about Halie and Merrin down there, lost in the darkness of the chasm. They must be so scared right now, and it's our fault for letting them get separated. Jeane's plan to send Zha'thik after them seems like the only option left, even if it means dealing with a demon. I take a deep breath, steeling myself as I prepare to step through the portal into whatever horrors await us.
I catch Varrika's eye, seeing my own fear reflected in her gaze. She gives me a small, grim nod of understanding. We're in this together now, whether we like it or not. With one last glance back at Jeane, who is already pushing Zha'thik towards the shimmering gateway, I turn and plunge into the depths, my heart in my throat as the blue light envelops me completely.
This is it—our last desperate gamble to save our friends and survive this accursed tower. May the gods have mercy on our souls... and may Jeane's plan work better than Halie's demon summoning did.
