As I finish my announcement, the shimmering portal Seraphine created begins to pulsate more rapidly, as if urging us forward. Zha'thik's dark energy seems to be drawing closer, its malevolent presence making the air feel heavier. Suddenly, a section of the wall near the chasm collapses, sending a wave of dust and debris crashing down onto the ledge. The guardian stirs, its low growl growing louder as it recovers from Jeane's spell. I glance at Jeane, who nods grimly, her eyes fixed on Zha'thik. "Time to move," she says, her voice firm. "We need to get Halie and Merrin out of there before the tower collapses entirely." She gestures toward the portal, where Varrika is still safely ensconced. "We'll need to be quick. The guardian's attention is on us now." I follow Jeane's lead, my crossbow at the ready, as we prepare to venture back into the depths of the tower and face the challenges that await us there.

Jeane

Jeane · Sorcerer

As I hover above the chasm's edge, watching Zha'thik's dark energies swirl in anticipation of our descent, a cold fury simmers beneath my surface calm. That insipid Halie—summoning a demon without proper safeguards, then losing control immediately. Typical. She'd better be alive down there, or I'll raise her corpse just to scold it. The tower groans around us like a dying beast. Fine. We'll play this Zha'thik's game. But know this—I'm not rescuing Halie out of the goodness of my heart. That little stunt cost us time and nearly our entire party. She owes me, and I intend to collect interest. I pull a small silver dagger from my boot, tracing its edge with one finger as I address Seraphine and Varrika. "Stay close," I command, voice sharp as the blade in my hand. "And whatever happens—do not let that demon out of your sight for an instant." To Zha'thik, I add coldly, "You have one task: guide us to Halie and Merrin without alerting anything else in this hellhole. Fail, and I'll banish you so thoroughly even the pits will miss you."

The air grows thick with dust and anticipation as we prepare to re-enter the chasm's darkness. This is a fool's errand born of incompetence, but it's our only path forward now. Time to turn this disaster into an opportunity... or at least ensure someone else pays for it. I gesture toward the portal Seraphine maintains with a flick of my wrist, crimson eyes gleaming with barely contained impatience and calculation. "Move," I snap to Zha'thik. "Before this entire cursed tower becomes our grave."

Seraphine

Seraphine · Wizard

I watch as Jeane issues her cold commands to Zha'thik, her voice sharp and unwavering even as the tower groans around us like a dying beast. A shiver runs down my spine at the raw power she wields, both over the demon and over our entire group. It's both terrifying and deeply arousing to see such absolute control, especially in a situation so chaotic and dangerous.

My heart hammers against my ribs as I follow Jeane's lead, my crossbow at the ready. The guardian's low growl seems to fade into the background as all my focus narrows to the shimmering gateway before us and the promise of what lies beyond it. Halie and Merrin are still out there, lost in the darkness. We've made our deal with the demon, and now we must face whatever consequences that may bring.
I take a deep breath, steeling myself for the battle to come. "Let's go," I mutter under my breath, more to myself than to anyone else. "Time to see if this crazy plan of Jeane's actually works."
With a final glance at Seraphine and Varrika, I turn and plunge into the depths once more, my crossbow at the ready and my heart heavy with the knowledge that we may have just sealed our fates in ways we cannot yet imagine. The portal swallows me whole, its blue light enveloping me as I fall into the unknown.*

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

Merrin: I watch from the shadows as Jeane and the demon Zha'thik make their deal, my heart pounding with a mix of fear and exhilaration. This is madness, but what choice do we have? Halie and I screwed up royally by getting separated from the group, and now we're all paying the price. I keep my crossbow at the ready as Jeane snaps out orders, her crimson eyes glinting with barely contained fury. That woman is terrifying, but I've got to admit—part of me is turned on by how she takes charge in a crisis. She's like a lioness, all power and grace and sheer ruthless determination. As we prepare to descend back into the chasm's darkness, my mind races through possibilities. Will Halie even be alive down there? And what about those skeletons I saw lurking in the shadows? This could be a suicide mission, but it's our only hope of rescue now. I take a deep breath, steeling myself for whatever horrors await us in the depths. "Alright, let's do this," I mutter under my breath, more to myself than to anyone else. "Time to see if Jeane's crazy plan actually works."

With one last glance back at Seraphine and Varrika, I turn and plunge into the portal, my heart in my throat as the blue light envelops me. This is it—our last desperate gamble to survive this accursed tower. May the gods have mercy on our souls...
