Round 67 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

The tension in Narrow ledge overlooking a deep chasm in the tower's lower levels tightens for a beat as the interruption refuses to go away. Everyone is forced to stay quiet and choose their next move carefully.
Jeane hovers above the ledge, her dark wings beating slowly as she takes in the unfolding disaster below. Fucking hell. This is worse than I thought. The guardian's using Varrika as bait and coordinating with the river demon—that means the entire tower's security systems are active now, not just localized triggers. Those two aren't random threats; they're working together to exterminate us systematically. We need to act fast before more wards activate or the whole damn chamber collapses. Our options?
The air in the chamber is thick with tension and the acrid smell of magic as Seraphine stands protectively over Varrika's unconscious form. She watches Merrin load her crossbow with a practiced efficiency, her movements fluid and purposeful even in the face of such overwhelming odds. A wave of cold washes over Seraphine as she considers their options, each one more dire than the last.
"We have to get out of here," she says, her voice strained but firm. "The entire tower's security systems are active now, not just localized triggers. Those two aren't random threats; they're working together to exterminate us systematically."
She looks up at Jeane, who is hovering above the ledge, her dark wings beating slowly as she surveys the chaos below. The sorcerer's expression is one of grim determination, and Seraphine feels a flicker of hope amidst the despair.
The guardian snarls in frustration, its massive hand outstretched towards Varrika's still form. Seraphine grits her teeth, pouring every ounce of her magical energy into the barrier spell that surrounds the elf. She can feel the strain of the spell deep within her bones, a dull ache that promises to turn into agony if she maintains it much longer.
As Halie's demon materializes beside Merrin, its eyes glowing an eerie red, Seraphine feels a surge of protectiveness wash over her. They are all that stands between Varrika and certain death at the hands of these ancient, awakened beings. She knows that they must act fast, for every second they remain in this chamber increases the risk of collapse or worse.
"Jeane," she calls out, her voice rising above the din of crumbling stone and snarling creatures, "we need to get Varrika out of here now! Can you teleport us all to safety?"
She watches as Jeane hesitates, her expression shifting from grim determination to deep thought. The sorcerer's eyes narrow as she considers the possibility, weighing it against the risks.
The chamber begins to shake violently, the sound of crumbling stone filling the air. A nearby stalagmite teeters on the edge of collapse. Seraphine risks a glance upwards and freezes. The ceiling is cracking, great fissures snaking across the rock like the veins of some ancient, slumbering beast.
"The whole chamber is collapsing!" she shouts, her voice lost in the chaos. "We need to get out of here now, or we'll be buried alive!"
She turns back to Merrin, who is crouched behind a stalagmite, her crossbow at the ready. The rogue's face is set in a grim line, her jaw clenched with determination as she prepares to face whatever comes next.
"Merrin, find cover!" she calls out, her voice straining to be heard over the din. "Use those formations to your advantage!"
The creature from the river continues its slow, deliberate approach, its form solidifying into something more defined—a massive, serpentine being with rows of razor-sharp teeth and clawed appendages. Seraphine can feel the ancient power emanating from it, a suffocating malevolence that threatens to crush her very being.
As the guardian snarls in frustration, circling the chamber like a predator stalking its prey, Seraphine feels a deep, gnawing fear settle into her bones. They are trapped, cornered between two unimaginable threats, with no way out and no hope of escape. But she also knows that they have each other, and that is more than enough to face whatever comes next.
She looks back at Varrika, lying helplessly on the ground, and a wave of protectiveness washes over her. They must protect the elf at all costs, for the very fate of their mission may depend on her survival.
The party is scattered, each member fighting for their own survival against overwhelming odds. The only thing keeping them together is Seraphine's desperate will and Jeane's impending arrival. But even that may not be enough against the sheer power of these ancient, awakened beings. As another stalagmite crumbles to the ground, Seraphine feels a deep, gnawing fear settle into her bones. They have no way out, no escape from this living tomb.
But she will not give up. Not now, not ever. For she is a wizard of the Light, and she will face whatever challenges await them with courage and determination in her heart.
Merrin's eyes dart around the chamber, taking in the chaos and carnage with a mixture of horror and grim determination. The guardian's shadow servant lunges towards Varrika's unconscious form, its claws outstretched and ready to tear into her flesh. Merrin's hands tighten on her crossbow, her finger hovering over the trigger as she aims for the creature's heart.
"Varrika!" she cries out, her voice barely audible over the roar of the river and the snarling of the guardian. "Wake up!"
But the elf remains still, her body limp and unresponsive. Merrin feels a pang of fear in her chest, but she pushes it down, knowing that they must act fast or face certain death at the hands of these ancient beings.
She fires her crossbow, the bolt striking the shadow servant in the shoulder and drawing a roar of pain from its throat. The creature recoils, its form shimmering and twisting as it tries to shrug off the wound.
Halie's demon materializes beside Merrin, its eyes glowing an eerie red. The creature snarls, its teeth bared in a vicious grin as it stalks towards the guardian, its claws outstretched and ready to tear into the ancient being's flesh.
Seraphine maintains her barrier spell around Varrika, her face contorted with effort as she pours every ounce of her magical energy into the ward. Merrin can see the strain in the wizard's eyes, the way her hands tremble as she holds the spell in place.

"Fuck," she mutters under her breath, her heart pounding in her chest as she takes stock of their situation. "We're trapped."
