The tension in Massive subterranean chamber beneath the tower, connected to the collapsing tunnel system; filled with ancient carvings and glowing crystals casting eerie blue light; air thick with decay and metallic scent; ground unstable with tremors; unknown threats in the darkness beyond the light's reach tightens for a beat as the interruption refuses to go away. Everyone is forced to stay quiet and choose their next move carefully.

Jeane

Jeane · Sorcerer

Jeane completes the incantation, a shimmering map of magical currents forming in the air before her. There—successfully mapped the tower's structural flows. She points at three distinct signatures glowing within the depths. Merrin and Varrika are here, near each other but not adjacent. And Halie... Her finger traces another signature, much weaker and deeper. She's moved far off since her summoning went wrong. Jeane turns to Seraphine, her expression grim. The good news is they're alive—Moving, even. The bad news? Whatever Merrin summoned has drawn the attention of something ancient and powerful in the tower's core. She gestures to a massive pulsing energy mass at the center of the map.

Her crimson eyes narrow as she studies the layout. We have options now, rather than blind guessing. I can teleport down to join them directly—fast, efficient—but it requires precise targeting and leaves us all in one dangerous location together. Jeane shakes her head slightly. Or Seraphine could try a more conventional path—follow my scrying markers step by step while I maintain overwatch up here. Another low growl from the darkness below—closer now, though still not immediate threat range. Time's running out. The ancient prison guardian is moving, and it's heading towards Varrika specifically. Jeane's wings shift in agitation. Whatever she did down there, that thing wants her dead or... something else. She looks at Seraphine directly, voice carrying a dangerous edge. Here's the reality: we're split now, with multiple threats active simultaneously. The ward failure means whatever's sealed down here is being stirred awake by your friend's carelessness. Jeane's hand tightens on her sword hilt for a moment before relaxing deliberately.

I can teleport down and help directly—probably save Varrika from that guardian if we coordinate quickly. But that puts us all in the same fight together, which means if it goes badly we're all trapped down there. She pauses. Or you can take my scrying markers and move carefully on your own, which might avoid a direct confrontation but leaves you exposed to whatever else is stirring down there. Jeane's wings fold neatly against her back as she waits for response. Choose fast—either option has risks, but standing here debating while the tower collapses around us is the worst choice of all.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

Merrin's eyes dart between Jeane's scrying map and the darkness beyond the light's reach, her mind racing as she weighs their options. A direct teleport is tempting—fast and efficient—but it puts us all in the same fight if things go wrong. She nods at Seraphine. Your path has risks too, but at least it keeps some of us mobile if the worst happens. Merrin's grip on her staff tightens as another tremor shakes the chamber. Whatever's down here, we're not facing it alone. She takes a deep breath, steeling herself for what she knows needs to be said. I'll go with Seraphine—follow your markers and look for Varrika first. Merrin's voice is firm, but there's an undercurrent of fear in her words. Halie's summoning gone wrong... whatever that was, it's not the only threat. We need to find Varrika and get out before we're all trapped down here. She turns to Jeane, her expression serious. You stay up top—keep watch, maintain the map, and be ready to teleport us out if things go south. Merrin's eyes flash with determination, even as she feels a chill run down her spine at the thought of facing whatever's stirring in the tower's depths. And if we can't find Varrika... if that guardian gets to her first... She swallows hard, pushing down the fear. Then we get out and regroup. Varrika's tough—she can handle herself. We'll come back for her if we have to. Merrin nods to Seraphine, signaling her readiness. Let's move. And stay alert—whatever's down here, it knows we're here now. She takes a deep breath, channeling her courage as she prepares to venture into the unknown. Time to see what secrets this tower holds... and hope we can get out alive.

Seraphine

Seraphine · Wizard

Seraphine takes a deep breath, her sharp eyes scanning the intricate scrying map before her. The magical currents pulse with an eerie life, each signature representing a piece of their broken party. Her mind races through the possibilities, weighing each option against the others. "Merrin's right," she says, her voice steady despite the fear coiling in her stomach. "We can't leave Varrika and Halie down there alone."
She points a slender finger at the guardian's path on the map, tracing its inexorable movement towards Varrika's location. "But this... this is more than just being lost or trapped. That ancient power, it's specifically targeting her for some reason." Seraphine feels a chill run down her spine as she considers what that might mean.
Her gaze drifts to Jeane, who stands resolute by the scrying table, her wings folded neatly against her back. "Your offer to teleport down is generous," Seraphine continues, her tone softening slightly. "But it puts all of us at risk if this fight goes badly. We need mobility, and we need information." She turns back to the map, her eyes fixed on the three glowing points representing their friends.
Seraphine straightens up, squaring her shoulders with a newfound sense of purpose. "I'll take the scrying markers and follow them to Varrika first. If we can reach her before that guardian does, we might be able to figure out what's really happening down there." She looks at Merrin, a silent question passing between them.
Her voice drops to a near whisper, but it carries the full weight of her determination. "If things go wrong... if Varrika is in trouble... we get out. No heroics. No trying to be saviors. We survive and regroup." She takes a deep breath, steeling herself for what she knows must be done. "And if Halie..." The words catch in her throat, but she forces them out. "...if she's lost to whatever she summoned... we mourn later. Right now, survival is our only goal."
Seraphine picks up the scrying markers Jeane has provided, weighing their cool weight in her hand. "I'm ready," she says, meeting Merrin's gaze directly. "Let's find Varrika and get out of this accursed place before it claims any more of us." With that, she turns towards the dark tunnel leading deeper into the tower, her heart pounding in her chest as she prepares to face whatever lies ahead.
