The ground beneath them rumbled violently as something ancient and powerful emerged from the yawning maw in the wall behind Merrin. A figure began to take shape within the swirling vortex of darkness—towering, monstrous, its single glowing eye fixed unerringly on Varrika with malevolent intent. The air around them thickened with dark magic, making it hard to breathe.

Halie staggered back, her voice trembling as she called out warnings and tactical suggestions. Something's coming! It knows Varrika—it's focusing on her specifically! The dwarf warrior's hand instinctively went to her sword hilt, but the sheer power radiating from the creature made her hesitate. Jeane felt the ancient magic pulse through her own body, responding to the monstrous presence with a hunger that both thrilled and terrified her. This thing... it's reaching out, tasting my own magic signature—hungry for more than just Varrika's dwarven essence, she mused with a slow, dangerous smile. Merrin: The wiry halfling scout dropped into a low crouch, her crossbow snapping up to cover the threat. The dark magic radiating from the creature made her teeth ache, and she felt a cold sweat break out on her skin—this thing was old, powerful, and radiating an aura of pure malevolence that made her want to bolt for the nearest exit.

Varrika: The dwarf warrior's grip tightened on her greatsword hilt as the monstrous figure loomed before her. Fear spiked in her chest, but she forced it down through sheer willpower. If you want something, then come get some if you dare! she growled, Her voice was steady despite the terror clawing at her insides. Jeane: The succubus sorcerer's glyphs pulsed with burning cold against her flesh as she faced down the monstrous form. The pulsing runes on her skin seemed to respond to the ancient power emanating from the creature, burning cold against her flesh. This thing... it knows us somehow—our magic signatures, our weaknesses, she purred with predatory focus. The air around her began to shimmer and distort as she prepared to unleash her power.*

Merrin: The halfling scout felt time seem to slow as Jeane gave the signal. He didn't hesitate—bolting forward and diving through the swirling vortex of darkness that opened in midair. The sudden disorientation was nauseating, but he hit the ground rolling and came up in a crouch with crossbow raised instinctively. Where are we? he hissed into the oppressive gloom. Varrika: The dwarf warrior stumbled out of the teleportation spell, greatsword at the ready as she scanned their new surroundings. They seemed to be in some kind of... cavern? The air was thick with ancient magic and the faint sound of dripping water. I don't like this, she muttered, This place feels wrong.

Jeane: The succubus sorcerer stepped through last, portal collapsing behind her with a faint pop. Her glyphs provided the only light in the oppressive gloom as she began weaving an intricate spell. Ah, welcome to the tower's lower levels! she announced with obvious delight,* I believe this is where our dear sorcerers did their... experiments. Quite a lot of ancient magic lingering about, wouldn't you agree?
