Round 60 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As the Keeper of the Threshold finishes speaking, its glowing eyes seem to bore into each member of the party, as if searching for any sign of weakness or doubt. The air around them crackles with energy, and the ancient, oppressive feeling grows thicker, making it hard to breathe. Suddenly, the ground beneath their feet begins to tremble, and the sound of shattering stone echoes through the cavern. The Keeper's eyes flash brighter, and a section of the wall behind it slides open, revealing a dark, narrow tunnel. "The test begins," it declares, its voice like thunder in their minds. "You must navigate the Labyrinth of Reflections, where your true selves will be revealed. Choose wisely, for the path ahead is fraught with danger."
The party exchanges worried glances, unsure of what lies ahead. They look at each other, then back at the Keeper, and begin to discuss their strategy. The tunnel behind them grows darker, waiting to swallow them whole.
I tighten my grip on my crossbow, keeping it trained on the creature as I listen to Seraphine's analysis. A sense of unease settles in the pit of my stomach as the Keeper speaks. I've faced many creatures in my years as a warrior, but this one feels different. More ancient, more powerful. Its very presence seems to drain the life from the air around us. As the creature finishes speaking, its glowing eyes fix on each of us in turn. I can feel their weight upon me, as if they're searching for some weakness or flaw. The ground beneath our feet begins to tremble, and a section of the wall slides open, revealing a dark, narrow tunnel. "What is this Labyrinth of Reflections?" I ask, my voice a low growl. "Some kind of test of courage or strength?" I glance at Jeane, noting the sorcerer's readiness to fight. But something tells me that brute force alone won't be enough against this creature. I take a step forward, my crossbow still aimed at the Keeper. "We've come too far to turn back now," I say, my voice steady despite the fear coiling in my gut. "But we need to be careful. Whatever lies ahead in that tunnel, we can't let our guard down for a moment."
My eyes dart to Halie, noting the cleric's unwavering faith. "Halie, your courage is admirable," I say, "but remember—this creature feeds on doubt and division. We need to stand together if we're going to make it through this."
I turn to Merrin next, seeing the rogue's determination mixed with her lingering fear. "Merrin, I know you've got skills that could come in handy here," I say, "but don't take any unnecessary risks. We need you alive and well if we're going to get out of this."
Finally, my gaze falls on Seraphine, the wizard's mind already working to analyze this new threat. "Seraphine, whatever you've got in that tome of yours, now's the time to use it," I say. "If there are any clues about this creature or its labyrinth, we need them now."
I take a deep breath, steeling myself for whatever lies ahead. "We've faced worse than this," I say, my voice growing stronger with each word. "But we can't let our guard down. We stand together, fight together, and make it out of this labyrinth with the sword and our lives intact."
I glance at the others, waiting for their response. Whatever this test is, whatever dangers lie ahead, I know one thing for certain: we'll face them as a party, united in purpose even if not in method. And when we emerge victorious, we'll be stronger than ever before.
I can feel the ancient power radiating from this creature—this Keeper of the Threshold—and I know instinctively that our usual methods won't be enough here. Its eyes bore into me as if trying to see through my very soul, and for a moment, I almost feel... exposed. Jeane Cromwell | Sorceress I glance at each member of this ragtag group—my companions by circumstance rather than choice—and consider our options carefully. The Labyrinth of Reflections? A test of faith, Seraphine said, but that's too simple a term for what this creature offers. It wants something deeper, something more... personal. The Keeper's voice echoes in my mind again, and I force myself to focus. We must navigate the Labyrinth of Reflections, where our true selves will be revealed. Choose wisely, it said. And now, we stand at the threshold of this dark passage, the air thick with tension and unspoken fears. I take a step forward, my wings folding against my back as I address the group. If this is a test of faith—of our true selves—I know what I must do. We cannot face this trial divided. Whatever lies within that labyrinth will exploit our weaknesses, our doubts, our... I hesitate on the word 'fears,' not wanting to appear weak before the others.
My eyes fall on Merrin, her rogue's instincts no doubt screaming at her to run or fight. Merrin, your skill with locks and shadows may serve us well in such a place. But do not let curiosity lead you into danger—this creature feeds on division. I turn to Varrika, the fighter standing ready with crossbow aimed at our ethereal judge. Varrika, your strength is unwavering, but be mindful that brute force alone won't save us here. This test is... mental as much as physical. Halie next—her unwavering faith a double-edged sword in this situation. Halie, I respect your conviction, truly I do. But this creature's words carry weight. If you falter in your beliefs within the labyrinth... And finally Seraphine, her mind already racing through possibilities. Seraphine, whatever wisdom that tome holds, we'll need it. But don't lose yourself to analysis paralysis—this path demands action. The ground trembles beneath us again, and I feel a moment of unease before suppressing it.
I take another step toward the dark tunnel, my voice low and measured. We go in together, as one unit. Whatever reflections we face—whatever truths are revealed—we do not judge each other based on what we see. This is not about exposing weaknesses but overcoming them. The Keeper's eyes flash again, and I feel a wave of dizziness pass over me.
I shake it off quickly. We've come too far to turn back now. The Time-Splitting Sword awaits beyond this trial... and I intend to claim it. Who's with me?
I listen to Jeane's words, my heart pounding in my chest as I consider our options. The Labyrinth of Reflections—whatever that means—sounds like a test unlike any we've faced before. And the Keeper's words about our true selves being revealed... that's not something I'm eager to face.
But Jeane's right—we can't turn back now. We've come too far, sacrificed too much to get this close to the Time-Splitting Sword. I take a deep breath, my hands shaking slightly as I prepare my lockpicks and check my pouches for any useful tools.
