Phase: escalating

The ancient stone gate groaned open, revealing a corridor that stretched into darkness. The air inside was thick with dust and something else—an old magic that prickled against the skin like static electricity. Torches flickered along the walls, casting long, dancing shadows that seemed to writhe with a life of their own.
Jeane stepped forward, her crimson eyes gleaming in the torchlight as she surveyed the corridor ahead. "Ah, our host grows impatient indeed," she purred, her voice carrying an excitement despite the ominous growls echoing from within. But then she raised one clawed finger, tracing intricate patterns in the air as if reading invisible sigils. "The magic here... it's older than anything I've encountered before. These aren't mere wards—they're a form of communication, a challenge."
Seraphine took a deep breath, her eyes fixed on the dark maw of the corridor ahead. The air was thick with ancient magic, and she could feel it prickling against her skin like static electricity. "Jeane is right," she said, her voice steady despite the churning in her gut. "This isn't just a dungeon—it's a test, and one that will push us all to our limits." Her gaze swept over her companions, landing on Halie. She looked as nervous as Seraphine felt, her grip tight on her mace.
"Halie," she said, stepping closer to the other woman. "Stay close. We don't know what's waiting in there, and I'd rather not face it alone." Her voice was soft but firm, a clear command mixed with genuine concern.
Merrin took a deep breath, her eyes scanning the dark corridor ahead. The air was thick with ancient magic, and she could feel the weight of the unknown pressing down on them all. "Careful, everyone," she warned, her voice low and serious. "This place... it's not right. The magic here—it's older than anything I've ever felt before." She stepped forward, peering into the shadows. Her eyes strained to make out any threats or traps, but the darkness seemed to swallow up any details.
"Seraphine's right—whatever's in there, it's not going to be easy," she continued, her voice barely above a whisper. "We need to stick together and watch each other's backs." She glanced back at Jeane, then at Halie. "And if anyone starts feeling... strange... we pull back immediately. Got it?"
The growling from within the corridor grew louder, more insistent. It was time to move forward—or turn back. The choice hung in the air, heavy with the weight of ancient magic and the promise of untold dangers beyond.
