Varikka's scream pierces the air as she's swept away by the surging torrent. Merrin lunges forward, her fingers grazing Varikka's outstretched hand before she vanishes into the swirling waters. The Guardian looms behind Merrin, its presence a constant threat as she struggles to keep her footing on the slick stones. Fear grips Merrin's heart as she realizes the extent of their danger. She can't afford to look back, not with the current threatening to sweep her off her feet at any moment. Merrin takes a deep breath, focusing on the path ahead. The stream twists and turns, its icy waters churning around her feet. She knows they need to find shelter soon, or risk freezing to death in the open. A narrow opening in the wall catches her eye – a possible refuge from the torrent. But as she approaches, Merrin realizes that the opening leads to a narrow, rickety bridge spanning a deep chasm. The bridge creaks ominously in the wind, threatening to collapse at any moment.

I can't leave Varikka out there alone! I have to find her, even if it means putting myself in danger. The Guardian looms behind me, its presence a constant threat, but I push that fear aside. Varikka needs my help. I take a deep breath and step towards the rickety bridge, testing each plank with a tentative footfall. The wood creaks ominously beneath my weight, but I press on, one careful step at a time. As I near the center of the bridge, a particularly rotten board snaps under my foot, sending me stumbling to the edge of the chasm. Heart pounding, I scramble for purchase, my fingers scraping against the jagged rock face. For a moment, I dangle precariously over the yawning abyss, the icy wind whipping at my hair and clothes. With a grunt of effort, I haul myself back onto the relative safety of the bridge, my breath coming in ragged gasps. I know I'm taking a risk by venturing into this unstable area, but I can't afford to hesitate. Varikka is out there somewhere, hurt and alone, and I have to find her before it's too late. The Guardian's relentless pursuit adds an extra layer of danger to the situation, but I can't let fear hold me back. With renewed determination, I continue across the bridge, my eyes scanning the churning waters below for any sign of Varikka. The bridge sways and creaks with each step, threatening to collapse at any moment, but I push forward, driven by the desperate need to save my friend. As I near the far end of the bridge, a glint of metal catches my eye. I lean over the railing, peering into the swirling depths below. There, half-buried in the mud and debris, is Varikka's weapon – her trusty mace. It's a small clue, but it's enough to tell me that she passed this way. Heartened by this discovery, I quicken my pace, hurrying across the final stretch of the bridge with renewed urgency. The Guardian looms behind me, its presence a constant threat, but I push that fear aside. Varikka needs my help, and I won't let anything stop me from reaching her.
