Round 964 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As I thrust the Time-Splitting Sword forward, its energy explodes outward in a blinding flash of light. The Guardian howls in pain, its massive form staggering back as it tries to regain its footing. With a swift motion, I dash towards the altar, the sword still pulsing with energy in my hand. Varikka follows closely behind, her Heavy Mace at the ready. Suddenly, the ground beneath us gives way, and we both tumble down a hidden pit, landing hard on the stone floor. The chamber falls silent once more, except for the sound of rocks falling around us, sealing our fate. We're trapped, with no visible escape route, and the Guardian is mere feet away, its single eye fixed on us with an unyielding hunger. Immediate pressure: Do we try to fight off the Guardian or find another way out of this pit?
I land hard on the stone floor, the air knocked from my lungs as I struggle to catch my breath. Varikka lies beside me, her Heavy Mace clattering to the ground as she tries to sit up. "Varikka!" I cry out, my voice echoing off the walls of the pit. "Are you alright?"
The dwarf nods, wincing as she clutches at her injured ankle. "I'll live," she grunts, her voice strained with pain. "But we need to get out of here. The Guardian is getting closer."
I nod, my eyes scanning the walls of the pit for any sign of an escape route. The runes on the walls pulse with a sickly green light, casting eerie shadows across the chamber. "Looks like we've got a few options," I mutter, my voice low and urgent. "We could try to fight our way out, but the Guardian is too strong. Or we could search for a hidden passage or secret door."
Varikka shakes her head, her eyes narrowing as she focuses on the Guardian's approach. "I don't think we have time for either," she says, her voice tight with fear. "We need to find a way out of this pit now."
I nod, my heart pounding in my chest as I try to think of a plan. The ground beneath us trembles, and I can hear the Guardian's claws scraping against the stone above. "Alright," I say, my voice shaking slightly. "Let's search for a secret door or hidden passage. Maybe there's a way out that we missed."
Varikka nods, her eyes scanning the walls of the pit as she tries to stand. "I'll watch our backs," she says, her Heavy Mace at the ready. "You look for a way out."
I nod, my hands already searching the walls for any sign of a hidden door or passage. The runes on the walls pulse with an eerie green light, and I can feel the energy coursing through my veins as I touch them. "Stay close," I mutter, my voice low and urgent. "And be ready for anything."
The Guardian's claws scrape against the stone above us, and I can hear its single eye fixed on us with an unyielding hunger. As we search for a way out, I can't shake the feeling that this is far from over.
