As Merrin closes the tome, the room falls silent, except for the faint sound of the Guardian's roar growing louder. Suddenly, the air is filled with a blinding flash of light, and Varikka stumbles back, her injured ankle screaming in protest. The ground shudders beneath their feet as the tunnel behind them collapses, sending debris tumbling into the narrow passageway. Merrin quickly reaches out to steady Varikka, her eyes scanning the room for any sign of a hidden exit. The leather-bound tome lies open on the bench, its pages fluttering wildly as if still trying to convey its secrets. The diagram of the circular chamber with runic symbols etched into its walls seems to be pulsing with an otherworldly energy, drawing Merrin's attention. Varikka's voice is laced with urgency, "We need to move now! The Guardian is closing in, and we don't have much time left." With that, she limps towards the tunnel entrance, her eyes fixed on a faint glimmer of light in the distance. The light grows brighter, illuminating a narrow opening that seems to lead deeper into the tower.

The air crackles with energy as the light from the tome fades. Varikka's urgent words snap me out of my daze, and I quickly gather my wits. The Guardian's roar grows louder, echoing through the crumbling tunnel behind us. We need to move now if we hope to survive. I take a deep breath, steeling myself for whatever lies ahead. The faint glimmer of light in the distance draws my attention, and I can feel the adrenaline already pumping through my veins. With a nod to Varikka, I reach for my dagger, the familiar weight of the weapon giving me a small measure of comfort. "Stay close," I mutter, my voice barely audible over the sound of collapsing stone. "And pray that whatever lies beyond this tunnel is better than what we've already faced."

And with that, I take a deep breath and step forward, my heart racing as I prepare to face whatever dark mysteries the tower has in store for us next.
