Merrin grabs Varikka's arm, pulling her towards the mirror. "We need to get closer," she says, her voice urgent. As they move, the mirror's surface ripples violently, the ancient laboratory's contents blurring and reforming. The leather-bound tome on the bench suddenly slams shut, its pages fluttering wildly as if the book itself is protesting their intrusion. Varikka's injured ankle protests with a sharp pain, but she grits her teeth and presses on. She narrowly avoids falling into the oily substance, which now threatens to spill over the edge of the ledge. The Guardian's roar echoes through the chamber once more, this time closer than ever, its presence making the air vibrate with an otherworldly energy.

I grab Varikka's arm, pulling her towards the mirror. "We need to get closer," I say, my voice urgent. As we move, the mirror's surface ripples violently, the ancient laboratory's contents blurring and reforming. The leather-bound tome on the bench suddenly slams shut, its pages fluttering wildly as if the book itself is protesting our intrusion. I scan the mirror's surface frantically, looking for any hint of a door or escape route. The image seems to be shifting and changing with each passing moment, as if the mirror itself is alive and aware of our presence. I can feel the heat of the oily substance on my hands, its acrid scent burning my nostrils. "Varikka," I say, my voice hushed, "Can you see anything in the mirror? Any sign of a way out?"

I know we're running out of time. The Guardian is getting closer with each passing second, and I can feel the ground shaking beneath our feet as more of the tunnel collapses around us. We need to find a way out, and fast, before it's too late. But as I stare at the mirror's shifting image, I can't shake the feeling that whatever lies beyond its surface might be even more dangerous than what we're facing now.
