Round 942 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Merrin reaches out to steady herself against the wall, her hand brushes against the oily substance on the floor, causing it to splatter across her boot. She grimaces in pain, the acidic taste of the substance stinging her skin. Varikka's eyes widen in alarm as she sees Merrin's reaction, her grip on her mace tightening. The Guardian is mere feet behind them, its roar growing louder with each passing moment. The mirror's surface ripples violently, revealing a glimpse of a narrow passageway on the other side, but it's obscured by a thick, noxious gas that makes Merrin's eyes water. The air is heavy with an eerie, unnatural silence, punctuated only by the sound of their own ragged breathing. Suddenly, the ground gives a loud crack, and Varikka stumbles, her injured ankle throbbing in agony. Merrin quickly grabs Varikka's arm, steadying her as she tries to regain her balance. "Varikka, hold on!" Merrin shouts, her voice barely audible over the Guardian's growing roar. The oily substance on the floor continues to flow, making every step a treacherous challenge. What do they do next?
I grimace in pain as the oily substance on the floor splatters across my boot, the acidic sting of it burning my skin. I can feel the Guardian's rage rattling the very foundation of this accursed place, its presence growing closer with each passing moment. Varikka's eyes widen in alarm as she sees my reaction, her grip on her mace tightening. The mirror's surface ripples violently, revealing a glimpse of a narrow passageway on the other side, but it's obscured by a thick, noxious gas that makes my eyes water. The air is heavy with an eerie, unnatural silence, punctuated only by the sound of our own ragged breathing. Suddenly, the ground gives a loud crack, and Varikka stumbles, her injured ankle throbbing in agony. I quickly grab Varikka's arm, steadying her as she tries to regain her balance. "Varikka, hold on!" I shout, my voice barely audible over the Guardian's growing roar. The oily substance on the floor continues to flow, making every step a treacherous challenge. We must decide how to proceed, and fast – the Guardian will not be denied. But with Varikka's injury and the treacherous terrain, we may be in over our heads. I glance at the narrow passageway, wondering if it could lead us to safety or if it's just another trap waiting to snap shut. "Varikka," I say, my voice low and urgent. "I think we need to find a way across this ledge, but I'm not sure how. The Guardian is getting closer, and with your ankle...we may need to find another way out of here."
I look at Varikka, hoping she has some idea of what we can do next. The oily substance on the floor continues to flow, making every step a challenge. But we can't afford to stay here – the Guardian is too close, and the chamber is crumbling around us. What do we do?
