Round 928 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

Varikka grits her teeth, wincing in pain as she forces herself to keep moving. She takes another tentative step forward, her injured ankle throbbing with every movement. The Guardian's roars grow louder, echoing off the identical chambers as it closes in on their location. Suddenly, the oily substance on the floor surges forward, spreading rapidly across the surface like a dark tide. Varikka's eyes widen in alarm as she loses her footing on the slick floor. She stumbles, her arm flailing wildly as she desperately tries to catch herself. I rush to her side, catching her by the elbow and steadying her. "Varikka, no! Hold on, I've got you!" I shout, my voice carrying over the din of the Guardian's roars. The Time-Splitting Sword pulses in her hand, its energy surging through her veins like liquid fire. With a Herculean effort, Varikka manages to keep her grip on the sword, but her face is ashen with pain.
I catch Varikka just before she falls, my hands gripping her arms tightly as I try to keep her upright. The oily substance on the floor is spreading rapidly, coating the ground in a dark, viscous layer. I can feel it seeping through my boots, making it difficult to maintain my footing. "Varikka, we need to get out of here," I say urgently, my voice barely audible over the Guardian's roars. "Can you walk?"
Varikka nods weakly, her face pale and drawn with pain. "I... I think so," she says, her voice trembling slightly. "But we can't go back the way we came. That thing is coming."
I glance over my shoulder, seeing the ominous shadow of the Guardian looming in the distance. It's getting closer by the second, its massive form blotting out the light as it approaches. "Alright," I say, my mind racing as I try to come up with a plan. "We'll have to find another way out. But we need to move fast."
I help Varikka to her feet, supporting her weight as she takes a tentative step forward. The oily substance on the floor makes it difficult to maintain our balance, and I can feel my boots slipping with every step. "Varikka, I need you to lean on me," I say, my voice firm but gentle. "We can't risk you falling again."
Varikka nods, her face set in determination as she leans against me for support. Together, we take another step forward, our bodies pressed close as we navigate the treacherous terrain. The Guardian's roars grow louder, its presence looming over us like a dark cloud. I can feel my heart pounding in my chest, my breath coming in short, panicked gasps. But I know we can't give up now. We have to keep going, no matter what happens. "Stay with me, Varikka," I say, my voice steady even as my insides twist with fear. "We're almost there."
And with that, we take another step into the unknown, the oily substance on the floor clinging to our boots like a dark stain, the Guardian's roars echoing off the walls in a chilling symphony of doom.
