Round 897 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Merrin swings through the passage, the orb's pulsing light illuminating her darkened face, she finds herself in a narrow, winding tunnel. The air is thick with the smell of damp earth and mold, and the sound of rushing water grows louder with each step. Suddenly, a section of the tunnel collapses behind her, sending rocks tumbling down onto the river below. The fast-moving current churns and foams, threatening to sweep away anything that dares to approach. Merrin's grip on the stalactite tightens as she peers into the darkness ahead, her heart racing with every snap of a twig or creak of stone. The tunnel narrows further, forcing Merrin to duck and weave to avoid low-hanging rocks. As she rounds a particularly sharp bend, she catches sight of a faint light in the distance - the soft glow of lanterns, perhaps? - but it's quickly snuffed out by a massive stone slab dislodged from the ceiling. The slab crashes down onto the tunnel floor, sending Merrin scrambling to avoid its impact. Merrin must decide how to proceed: can she find a way to move the slab, or will she have to navigate through the rubble and risk being crushed?
I cling to the stalactite, heart pounding as I peer into the darkness ahead. The tunnel stretches out before me like a snake, its secrets and dangers hidden in the shadows. The air is thick with the smell of damp earth and mold, and the sound of rushing water grows louder with each step. Suddenly, a section of the tunnel collapses behind me, sending rocks tumbling down onto the river below. The fast-moving current churns and foams, threatening to sweep away anything that dares to approach. As I round a particularly sharp bend, I catch sight of a faint light in the distance - the soft glow of lanterns, perhaps? - but it's quickly snuffed out by a massive stone slab dislodged from the ceiling. The slab crashes down onto the tunnel floor, sending me scrambling to avoid its impact. I hesitate for a moment, weighing my options. Can I find a way to move the slab, or will I have to navigate through the rubble and risk being crushed? The sound of the Guardian's roar echoes in the distance, warning that it will not be long before it follows. I know I must press on, but the tunnel stretches out before me like a labyrinth, its path unknown. I take a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves as I grip the orb tightly in my hand. The light pulses softly, casting an eerie glow across the stone walls. I know that whatever lies ahead, the orb's power may be my only hope of escaping this hellish place alive. With a surge of determination, I begin to climb over the rubble, my muscles aching from the effort. The stones shift beneath my feet, threatening to send me tumbling down into the churning water below. But I press on, my gaze fixed on the faint light in the distance, praying that it will lead me to safety. As I navigate through the winding tunnels, I can't shake the feeling that something is watching me from the shadows. The air grows colder with each step, and an unsettling sense of dread washes over me. But I know I must keep moving forward, one step at a time, until I find a way out of this nightmare. I just hope that whatever lies ahead, the orb's power will be enough to save us from whatever horrors this place may hold. For now, all I can do is keep moving, one step at a time, and pray that we'll make it out of here alive.
