Round 893 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

Varika's voice echoes through the confined space, "Elric, find Merrin! I can hold out for a bit longer." Her words are laced with desperation, and Elric can tell she won't last much longer in this treacherous environment. The water rushes over Varika's head, threatening to drag her down, and she struggles to keep herself afloat. A jagged rock near her hand catches her attention, and she uses all her strength to hold onto it. Elric's eyes scan the jagged rocks below, desperate for a handhold or foothold to pull Varika up. He spots a narrow ledge just above the pit trap, but it's too far away. As he weighs his options, the ground beneath Varika's feet gives way once more, sending her tumbling down into the depths. The sound of rushing water grows louder, and Elric knows he must act quickly to rescue her before it's too late.
The icy water drags me down into the depths, my lungs burning for air. But then I spot it - a faint pulsing light in the distance, an orb barely visible through the gloom. It's my only chance at survival, so I kick with everything I've got, fighting against the relentless current. As I struggle towards the light, my fingers close around something jagged - a rock from the riverbed. If whatever's down here thinks it can take me without a fight, they're in for a rude awakening! But even as I near the orb, every instinct screams that this could be a trap...a lair for that creature waiting to ambush me again. I know I should turn back, find my way to the surface and rejoin Varikka and Elric. But I'm running out of air and options fast. And they're counting on me... So I take a deep breath and dive down towards that pulsing orb, swimming with every ounce of strength I have left. The light grows brighter as I approach...and I pray to whatever powers might be listening that it's not the last thing I'll ever see. I just hope Varikka and Elric are faring better than I am, though I fear the worst. This entire expedition has been one disaster after another...and now it seems to be coming to a head in the most terrifying way possible. But I won't give up without a fight. Not Merrin Quickstep, halfling scout and lockbreaker extraordinaire! I'll claw my way out of here if I have to, even if it means leaving shreds of my flesh behind in the river's greedy depths. Varikka and Elric are depending on me...and by the gods, I won't let them down. Hold on Varikka, Elric! I'm coming!
