As we catch our breath on the narrow ledge, Varikka's grip on my arm tightens. "We need to keep moving," she growls, her voice hoarse from the exertion. Elric nods in agreement, his eyes scanning the water below for any sign of danger. Suddenly, a loud crack echoes through the tunnel, and the ground shudders violently once more. The path we were on gives way, sending us tumbling into the fast-moving river below. We're swept away by the powerful current, our bodies battered against the rocks as we desperately try to grab onto anything to keep ourselves afloat. The Guardian's roar grows louder still, its weight pressing down on the stone door behind it. Elric's torch flickers ominously, casting eerie shadows on the walls. As we struggle to stay afloat, I realize that Varikka's injured ankle is starting to give way. She grits her teeth in pain, her grip on my arm faltering. "Varikka, hold on!" I shout, trying to keep her arm tight as she's pulled under by the current. We need to find a way out of this river, now!

I gasp for air as Varikka hauls me onto the ledge, my limbs shaking from exhaustion. "That was too close!" I pant, struggling to catch my breath.

Elric nods grimly, his torch casting eerie shadows on the walls of the tunnel. "We can't stay here," he says, his voice tight with urgency. "The Guardian could be upon us at any moment."

Varikka grits her teeth in pain, her injured ankle throbbing beneath her. "I don't think I can walk much further," she groans, her face pale and drawn.

I bite my lip, my mind racing as I try to think of a way out of this nightmare. "We need to find another exit," I say, my voice shaking slightly. "But we can't risk getting swept away again."

Elric nods, his eyes scanning the walls for any sign of a way out. "There!" he exclaims, pointing towards a narrow opening just above the surface of the water. "We could try to climb up there."

I peer at the ledge, my heart sinking as I see how treacherous it looks. "It's too far," I whisper, my voice trembling with fear. "We'll never make it."

Varikka shakes her head, her face set with grim determination. "We have to try," she growls, her voice hoarse with pain. "Or we're all going to die down here."

I grit my teeth, my eyes fixed on Varikka's pale face as she struggles to catch her breath. "We need to get you somewhere safe," I pant, my voice shaking slightly. "That ankle looks bad."

The dwarf nods grimly, her face set with determination. "It is," she growls, wincing as she tries to put weight on her foot. "But we can't stay here. That Guardian could be upon us at any moment."
