Round 877 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

Varikka's face sets in a grim mask as she takes another tentative step forward, her injured ankle buckling beneath her weight. Elric catches her by the elbow, steadying her as Merrin moves closer to their left side, her eyes fixed on the fast-moving river below. The Guardian's roar echoes through the chamber once more, its ominous glow illuminating the dark stone walls as it slams against the stone door behind them. A loud crack echoes through the tunnel as a nearby section of the wall gives way, sending a cloud of dust and debris swirling into the air. The party is momentarily blinded, but their eyes adjust quickly to the darkness. As they regroup, Elric fumbles for his torch, casting a flickering glow over the scene. The ground beneath their feet shudders violently once more, threatening to send them tumbling.
I quickly grab Varikka's arm, steadying her as she stumbles towards the edge of the ledge. Elric moves to her other side, his face set with grim determination as he helps support her weight. "We need to get you across this river," I say, my voice tight with urgency as I scan the fast-moving waters below. "Elric, give me a boost so I can check the stability of that ledge on the other side."
The halfling nods, crouching down and interlacing his fingers to form a step. I place my foot in his hands, bracing myself against his shoulders as he heaves me up towards the narrow outcropping of stone. My hands scrabble for purchase on the damp rock, my fingers digging into the cracks and crevices as I pull myself up onto the ledge. I crouch low, testing the stability of the stone with a cautious push of my hand. It seems solid enough, but I know we can't risk getting swept away again. "Alright," I call down to Elric and Varikka, my voice tight with concern. "The ledge is stable enough for one person at a time. Varikka, you go first. Elric, give her a boost."
The fighter nods, wincing as she shifts her weight onto her injured ankle. With Elric's help, she hauls herself up onto the ledge beside me, her face flushed with exertion. "Okay," she pants, reaching down to offer her hand to Elric. "Let's get out of here before that thing catches up with us."
I nod, my heart pounding in my chest as I scan the shadows beyond the edge of Elric's torchlight. The Guardian's ominous roar echoes through the chamber once more, its weight pressing down on the stone door behind it. But we can't stop now. With a final heave, Elric joins us on the ledge, his torch casting a flickering glow over the damp stone walls. "Alright," I say, my voice shaking slightly as I reach for my crossbow. "Let's find a way out of this nightmare."
