Round 865 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As we step into the small chamber, the sound of The Guardian's bellows grows louder, the stone door behind us shuddering with each impact. The air is thick with dust, and I can feel the weight of the stone overhead, threatening to crush us at any moment. Varikka leans heavily on her mace, using it as a crutch to support her injured ankle. Elric notices a small crack in the wall, just large enough for me to squeeze through, but it's too narrow for Varikka. "We need to find another way," he whispers, his torch casting flickering shadows on the walls. The Guardian's enraged bellows echo through the passageway behind us, growing louder with every second. Suddenly, a loud crack echoes through the chamber, and the stone door begins to shake violently.
I hear the Guardian's bellows growing louder, the stone door shaking with each impact. I know we don't have much time. "Varikka, you stay here," I say, my voice barely audible over the roar of the water. "Elric and I will try to find another way out. If this tunnel collapses, we need to be ready to move fast."
I glance at Elric, who nods grimly. "Aye, that we do," he says, his torch casting flickering shadows on the walls. "But where? This chamber seems to be a dead end."
I scan the room, my eyes darting from one shadowy corner to another, searching for any sign of an exit. But all I see is a jumble of broken stones and debris, the air thick with dust and the scent of decay. "There," I whisper, pointing to a small crack in the wall, just large enough for me to squeeze through. "I'll check it out. If it leads somewhere safe, we can try to get Varikka through. But if not..." I let the words trail off, not wanting to voice the terrible possibilities that fill my mind.
Elric nods again, his face set with grim determination. "Do what you must," he says, his voice low and urgent. "But be quick about it. That thing won't stay trapped for long."
I take a deep breath, steeling myself for what I'm about to do. And then, with a final glance at Varikka - her eyes wide with pain and fear - I turn and dash towards the crack in the wall, my heart pounding in my chest as I pray that whatever lies beyond will be better than the fate that awaits us if we stay.
