As I help Varikka to her feet, her splinted ankle throbbing with each step, Elric notices a small crack in the wall, just large enough for me to squeeze through. "This might be our only chance," he whispers, his torch casting flickering shadows on the walls. The Guardian's enraged bellows echo through the passageway, growing louder with every second. I glance at Varikka, her eyes sunken with pain, and then at Elric. "We have to try," I say, my voice barely above a whisper. "But if we get trapped behind the door, we're on our own."

Varikka winces as I help her through the narrow opening, her ankle catching on a jagged rock. We emerge into a small, dimly lit chamber, the air thick with dust and the scent of decay. The Guardian's bellows are now just a few feet away, echoing off the walls of the chamber.

I wince as Varikka's weight settles onto my shoulders, her splinted ankle throbbing against me. The Guardian's enraged bellows echo through the passageway, growing louder with every second. I know we're running out of time - if that thing catches up, we're as good as dead.

Elric's torchlight flickers in the darkness ahead, illuminating a small crack in the wall. It's just large enough for me to squeeze through, but the thought of being trapped on the other side, separated from the others, fills me with dread. "This might be our only chance," he whispers, his voice barely audible over the roar of the water behind us.

I glance at Varikka, her eyes sunken with pain as she clings to my arm. She's in no shape to fight, and I know we can't stay here. The tunnel won't hold much longer. "We have to try," I say, my voice strained with fear. "But if we get trapped behind that door, we're on our own."

With a grunt of effort, I help Varikka through the narrow opening, her splinted ankle catching on a jagged rock. She cries out in pain as I wrench her free, and for a moment I'm afraid she's been injured again. But with a final heave, we tumble into the small, dimly lit chamber beyond, gasping for breath.

Elric's torch casts flickering shadows on the walls, revealing a jumble of broken stones and debris. The air is thick with dust and the scent of decay, and I can feel the weight of the stone overhead, threatening to crush us at any moment. "We need to keep moving," I whisper, my heart pounding in my chest. "That thing will be on us soon."

Varikka nods grimly, her jaw set with determination. She leans heavily on her mace, using it as a crutch to support her injured ankle. "Lead the way, Merrin," she says, her voice hoarse with pain. "I'll follow as best I can."

And so, with Elric's torchlight guiding us, we set off into the depths of the chamber, our hearts heavy with the knowledge that our true test still lies ahead. The Guardian's bellows echo through the passageway behind us, growing louder with every step, and I know that we must find a way to escape - or be doomed to perish in this accursed tower forever.
