The stone door shudders violently once more, and the sound of grinding rock grows louder. Elric's hands fly over the intricate lock mechanism with increasing urgency, but it seems to be no match for the Guardian's relentless efforts on the other side. The metal begins to bend and warp under the pressure, threatening to tear away from its frame at any moment. Merrin's grip on Varikka's arm tightens as she strains against her weight, trying to keep her stable on the slippery rocks. Varikka's injured ankle throbs in agony, but she grits her teeth and focuses on putting one foot forward, then the other. With a final burst of effort, she manages to take another step, her eyes locked on Elric as he frantically works to open the door.

I feel a surge of adrenaline as the door finally opens, revealing a narrow stone tunnel beyond. I can hear the sound of rushing water echoing off the walls, and I know that we need to move quickly if we want to survive.

"Everyone, get in!" I shout, my voice strained with effort as I half-carry, half-drag Varikka through the opening. "We need to keep moving!"

As Elric follows behind us, his torch lighting the way, I can feel the ground trembling beneath my feet, chunks of rock falling from the ceiling and landing dangerously close to where we're running. The sound of the Guardian's roar grows louder once again, and I know that we are all in grave danger.

"Varikka, you need to keep moving," I say urgently, my hands gripping her tightly as I try to keep her steady on her feet. "I know your ankle is hurting, but we can't stop now. We have to keep going until we find a way out of here."

Varikka nods weakly, her face pale with pain and exhaustion. But she manages to take another step, then another, her eyes locked on the narrow tunnel ahead of us.

"Elric, lead the way," I shout, my voice rising above the sound of falling rock. "We need to find a safe place to rest before that thing catches up with us."

And with that, we set off into the darkness, our hearts pounding and our breath coming in short, sharp gasps as we try to outrun the collapsing tunnel behind us. I can only pray that whatever lies ahead is better than what we've left behind.
