Round 855 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Elric frantically works to open the stone door, the sound of rushing water grows louder, and the ground beneath you trembles. Varikka's injured ankle throbs in agony, and Merrin's grip on her arm tightens as she struggles to keep her stable. The Guardian's roar reaches a deafening pitch, causing Elric to stumble back, his torch flickering wildly as he regains his balance. Suddenly, the stone door shudders violently, and the sound of grinding rock fills the air. The Guardian's roar ceases, replaced by an eerie silence. Merrin's eyes widen in alarm as she looks at Varikka, her grip on her arm tightening. "Varikka, hold on!" she shouts, her voice strained with worry. A chunk of rock falls from the ceiling, landing nearby with a loud clang, and the tunnel begins to shake ominously. The Guardian's silence is broken by the sound of scraping metal, followed by a low groan that seems to be coming from the other side of the door.
I feel my heart pounding in my chest as the tunnel shakes around us, chunks of rock falling from the ceiling and landing dangerously close to where Varikka and I are huddled together. The sound of scraping metal and groaning stone fills the air, and I know that we're running out of time.
"Varikka, can you walk?" I ask urgently, my hands gripping her arms tightly as I try to help her to her feet. "We need to get out of here now!"
Varikka nods weakly, her face pale with pain and exhaustion. She tries to put weight on her injured ankle, but winces in agony as it buckles beneath her. "I-I think so," she stammers, her voice barely audible over the din of the collapsing tunnel. "Just... just give me a moment..."
But there is no time to spare. The Guardian's roar has ceased, replaced by an ominous silence that fills the air with a sense of impending doom. I can feel the ground trembling beneath my feet, and I know that we are all in grave danger.
"Elric!" I shout, my voice rising above the sound of falling rock. "Get that door open now! We're running out of time!"
Elric nods grimly, his hands flying over the intricate lock mechanism as he frantically tries to open the stone door. But even as he works, I can see the fear in his eyes, the knowledge that we may already be too late.
I turn back to Varikka, my hands gripping her tightly as I try to steady her on her feet. "Lean on me," I tell her firmly, my voice calm and reassuring despite the chaos around us. "We're getting out of here together, one way or another."
And with that, I start to half-carry, half-drag Varikka towards the stone door, my heart pounding in my chest as I pray to whatever gods might be listening that we'll make it out alive.
