Round 848 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

Merrin's hand tightens around Varikka's arm as she struggles to keep her footing on the slick stone ledge. "Varikka, are you alright?" she calls out, her voice strained with effort. The Guardian's roar of frustration echoes from the other side of the door, its presence now closer than ever. Elric swiftly reaches out to catch Varikka when her foot gives way beneath her, his grip firm but strained by his injured ankle. As they stumble through the partially open door, the ground gives way beneath Varikka's foot once more, causing her to cry out in pain. Elric swiftly pushes her forward, and she stumbles into the narrow tunnel beyond, her legs trembling with each step.
I stagger towards Varikka, my heart pounding in my chest. "Varikka!" I shout, my voice strained with effort. "Are you alright? Can you walk?"
The Guardian's roar echoes from the other side of the door, its presence now closer than ever. Elric's torch flickers in the darkness, casting eerie shadows on the rough stone walls of the narrow tunnel. I can feel the cold dampness seeping through my clothes, chilling me to the bone. "Elric," I call out, my voice barely above a whisper. "Keep that torch high and watch our backs. We need to find a way out of this damn channel before that Guardian catches up to us."
I reach out to steady Varikka, my hands grasping at the rough stone walls. The ground beneath my feet feels unstable, as if it could give way at any moment. I glance back over my shoulder, my eyes fixed on the partially submerged door behind us. The water churns around its edges, threatening to sweep us away at any moment. "Varikka," I mutter, my voice strained with effort as I lean heavily against the stone door for support. "Help me push! We need to get through this door before that Guardian catches up to us!"
With Varikka's help, I struggle to push open the partially submerged door, my muscles burning with the effort. The water tugs at my legs, threatening to pull me under at any moment, but I refuse to let go of her hand. "Varikka!" I shout, my voice strained with effort. "Hold on! We need to get to that door before we're crushed or drowned!"

I reach out a hand towards the ancient runes etched into the surface of the stone door, my fingers brushing against the cold, damp stone. The Guardian's heavy footsteps echo off the walls, growing louder by the second, and I can feel their unyielding gaze fixed on our location from across the pool.

The water churns around us, threatening to sweep us away at any moment, but I refuse to give up. No matter what dangers lie ahead, no matter how much pain I'm in, I'll keep fighting until my last breath. That's the only way we're going to survive this.
