Round 844 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As we tumble through the air, I feel a jolt of fear as we both land with a splash in the fast-flowing channel below. The water surges up, threatening to sweep us away, and I can hear Varikka's injured ankle wincing in pain. The Guardian's pursuit grows louder, their heavy footsteps echoing off the walls as they close in. We're carried downstream, our bodies battered by the rushing water, until we reach a narrow ledge where the channel opens up into a small pool. The Guardian's torch flickers through the water, illuminating our desperate faces as they emerge from the darkness, their eyes fixed on us with an unyielding gaze. Merrin struggles against the current, her lithe form battered by rocks and debris, while Varikka clutches at her injured ankle, her face pale with pain. The air is thick with the smell of water and decay, and I can feel the weight of the earth above us pressing down, threatening to crush us at any moment. Suddenly, a large boulder tumbles down from the tunnel ceiling, crashing into the water just yards away from us.
Merrin's eyes go wide with fear as the boulder crashes into the water just yards away, sending a wave of cold shock through her already chilled body. She clings to the narrow ledge, her fingers digging into the damp stone as she fights to keep her footing against the surging current. The Guardian's unyielding gaze bores into her from across the pool, and she can feel the weight of their presence pressing down on her like a physical force.
"Varikka!" Merrin cries out, her voice strained with effort as she reaches a hand towards her injured companion. "We need to get out of this channel before we're swept away or crushed by more falling debris!"
She takes a tentative step forward, her muscles aching from the strain of fighting against the current. The water tugs at her legs, threatening to pull her under at any moment, but she forces herself to keep moving, keep pushing towards solid ground. "Elric," she shouts over the roar of the rushing water, "Can you see a way out of here? A ledge or a tunnel that leads up and out of this damn channel?"
Merrin's heart pounds in her chest as she scans the walls of the tunnel, searching for any sign of an exit. The Guardian's presence looms over them like a dark shadow, and she knows they don't have much time before they're caught or crushed by the collapsing earth above. "Varikka," she says, her voice soft with urgency, "Can you make it if I help you to your feet? We need to move now, before it's too late!"
