Round 834 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As we pull towards the tunnel entrance, the boat lurches violently, and I feel Varikka's weight shift on my hand. My grip tightens, and I struggle to keep her stable as the wooden slats creak ominously beneath us. The water rushes in, threatening to engulf us, and I hear a faint groan from Elric as he clings to the torch for support. Suddenly, the tunnel entrance opens up before us, and we're able to squeeze inside just as the boat is swept away by the rising floodwaters. We find ourselves in a narrow, dimly lit passageway, the air thick with dust and the stench of decay. The ground beneath our feet is slick with water, and I can hear the sound of rushing water echoing off the walls, growing fainter with each step we take away from the collapse site. We've made it into the tunnel, but our journey is far from over. We'll need to move quickly and carefully if we hope to escape this place alive.
Elric's torchlight flickers, casting eerie shadows on the walls as we scramble into the narrow tunnel. The air is thick with dust and the stench of decay, making it hard to breathe. I can hear the rush of water fading behind us, but that doesn't mean we're safe yet. "Everyone okay?" I call out, my voice echoing off the damp stone walls. "Varikka, how's your ankle holding up?"
I crouch down, my hand on the rough, wet ground. The Time-Splitting Sword presses against my back, a constant reminder of what we're fighting for. But right now, survival is the only thing that matters. Elric's torchlight illuminates the passageway ahead, revealing a maze of twisting tunnels and narrow corridors. I can see water pooling on the ground, reflecting the flickering light. We'll need to move carefully if we don't want to slip and fall. "Okay, listen up," I say, my voice low and urgent. "We're not out of this yet. Varikka, Elric - stay close and watch your step. Merrin, you keep that torch high and steady. We've got no idea what's down here, so keep your eyes peeled for anything that looks like trouble."
I glance around, trying to get my bearings. The tunnel seems to wind deeper into the earth, away from the collapsing chamber above. But that doesn't mean we're any safer. I can feel the weight of the stone pressing down on us, and I know that one wrong step could send us tumbling into another trap. "Let's move out," I say, taking a deep breath. "And keep your voices down - we don't want to attract any unwanted attention."
I take a step forward, my hand on the rough stone wall. The tunnel stretches out before us, dark and full of unknown dangers. But right now, it's our only way out. And as long as we stick together, I know we can make it through. "Stay sharp," I say, my voice a low murmur. "And watch your step."
I move forward, my eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of danger. The tunnel winds on, deeper and deeper into the earth. But I know that as long as we stick together, we'll find our way out.
