As Merrin pushes off from the shore, the boat glides silently into the darkness beyond. The Guardian's growls grow louder, echoing off the chamber walls. Suddenly, the rickety bridge above us gives way, crashing down into the swift-flowing channel below. The boat rocks violently, sending us all tumbling. Elric's torch slips from his grasp, plunging the boat into darkness. We cling to each other as the current carries us downstream, the water rising higher and higher. I can feel the boat creaking under the strain, threatening to splinter apart at any moment. The Guardian's roars grow closer, and I know we're running out of time. We need to find a way to steady the boat or risk being swept over the edge into the depths below.

I gasp as the bridge collapses, sending us all tumbling in the darkness. My heart races as I cling to the edge of the boat, feeling the water surge against my legs. "Varikka! Elric!" I call out, my voice barely audible over the roar of the rushing water. I can hear them thrashing about in the dark, their voices laced with panic and pain. The boat rocks violently beneath us, threatening to splinter apart at any moment. I know we need to find a way to steady ourselves or risk being swept over the edge into the depths below. As my eyes adjust to the darkness, I can make out Varikka's silhouette in the moonlight filtering through the cracks above. She's clinging to the side of the boat, her injured ankle dangling helplessly in the water. Elric is hunkered down at the other end, his arms wrapped tightly around his chest. "Varikka, can you move?" I call out, my voice strained with concern. "We need to get you into the center of the boat where it's more stable."

I hear a grunt of pain from Varikka's direction, followed by a string of curses under her breath. "I'm trying," she gasps, her voice tight with agony. I reach out blindly in the darkness, my hands brushing against Elric's arm. "Elric, help me steady the boat," I command, my tone firm but laced with urgency. "We need to keep it from capsizing or Varikka will be thrown overboard for sure."

I can feel the current tugging at the hull, and I know we don't have much time before it carries us away. But even as I worry about our immediate safety, I can't shake the feeling that this is just the beginning of something much larger. The Time-Splitting Sword pulses against my back, its power a constant reminder of the stakes we're playing for. And as I look at Varikka and Elric, their faces etched with fear and determination, I know that we're in this together - for better or for worse. "Hold on," I call out, my voice barely audible over the roar of the water. "We're going to make it through this." And with that, I reach out once more, my hands grasping for Varikka's in the darkness.
