As we proceed down the left tunnel, the air grows thick with the scent of damp earth and mold. The sound of rushing water grows louder, and I can see the faint glow of luminescent mushrooms growing on the walls. Suddenly, the tunnel opens up into a large underground chamber, the ceiling lost in darkness. The room is filled with a crystal-clear lake, its surface reflecting the flickering torchlight. A small wooden boat bobs gently on the water's surface. Elric's torchlight casts eerie shadows on the walls as he hesitates, his eyes darting between the chamber and the tunnel behind us. Varikka stumbles forward, her injured ankle protesting with each step, but Merrin catches her by the arm, steadying her. "Be careful," I warn, my hand tightening on the hilt of the Time-Splitting Sword. Varikka's eyes widen as she takes in the sight before us. "This is it," she whispers, her voice barely audible over the sound of the water. "This must be where the legendary sword awaits." She glances at the tunnel behind us, The Guardian's growls echoing through the passage. "But we're not alone," she adds, her hand tightening around the hilt of her own sword.

The boat looks like our only way forward, but I'm wary of traps. Varikka's right, this has to be where the legendary sword is hidden. But we can't just wade in - there could be pit traps, underwater pressure plates, or worse. "Hold on," I say, raising a hand to stop Varikka from rushing ahead. "We need to be careful here." I scan the chamber, looking for any signs of danger. The water is crystal clear, but that doesn't mean it's safe. "Elric, can you cast some light over the water? I want to check for any hidden threats before we get in that boat."

I crouch down at the water's edge, peering into the depths. The bottom of the lake is visible, but I can't see any obvious traps or obstacles. Still, my instincts are screaming at me that something isn't right. "Varikka, stay back for now," I say, my voice firm. "Keep watch on that tunnel - if The Guardian shows up, we'll need you ready to fight." I turn to Elric, who is still holding the torch. "Can you make that light any brighter? I want to get a better look at the boat itself before we climb in."

My mind races as I try to think through the potential dangers. A pit trap would be easy to spot from above, but there could be hidden currents, or underwater tripwires attached to the boat's hull. And even if the boat is safe, who knows what awaits us on the other side of this lake? But we don't have many options - the tunnel behind us is collapsing, and the water is rising fast. We need to move, but we can't afford to be careless. I take a deep breath, my hand tightening on the hilt of the Time-Splitting Sword. "Alright," I say, turning to face the others. "Here's the plan: Elric, keep that torch high and bright. Varikka, you're on guard duty - if anything moves in that tunnel, shout." I glance at the boat, my eyes narrowing. "I'm going to check out the boat. If it looks safe, we'll all get in and see where it takes us." I hesitate, my gaze flickering to the darkness beyond the lake. "But be ready for anything. This is probably just the first step in some kind of test - and we've got a long way to go before we reach that sword."

With that, I step forward, my feet sinking into the soft mud at the water's edge. The boat looks sturdy enough, but I know better than to trust appearances in a place like this. I crouch down, running my hands along the hull, looking for any hidden mechanisms or tripwires. The wood is cold and damp beneath my fingers, but I don't feel anything out of the ordinary. I glance back at Varikka and Elric, my eyes meeting theirs. "So far so good," I call out, my voice echoing off the chamber walls. "But keep your guard up - we're not out of danger yet."

And with that, I step into the boat, my hand still tight on the sword at my back. The water laps at the hull as I settle my weight, and for a moment, I'm afraid we might tip over. But the boat holds steady, and I let out a sigh of relief. "Alright," I say, turning to face the others. "Let's see where this takes us."
