As we wade through the murky water, The Guardian's growls grow louder, the sound echoing off the damp walls. Suddenly, the tunnel splits into two narrow passages, one to the left and one to the right. Elric's torchlight casts flickering shadows on the walls as he hesitates, his eyes darting between the two paths. Varikka stumbles forward, her injured ankle protesting with each step, but Merrin catches her by the arm, steadying her. "Be careful," I warn, my hand tightening on the hilt of the Time-Splitting Sword. The water swirls around our knees, cold and treacherous, as we consider our options. To the left, the tunnel appears narrower and darker, the air thick with the scent of mold and decay. To the right, the passage is wider, but the sound of rushing water grows louder, and I can see the faint glow of luminescent mushrooms growing on the walls.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

I peer down each passage, my eyes straining in the dim torchlight. The left tunnel seems to lead deeper into the earth, its walls slick with moisture. I can hear the distant sound of rushing water, but it's muffled and far away. The right tunnel is wider, and I can see the faint glow of luminescent mushrooms growing on the walls. The sound of the underground stream grows louder as we approach, and I can feel the current tugging at my legs. Varikka shifts her weight, wincing as she puts pressure on her injured ankle. "I don't know about you," she says, her voice tight with pain, "but I'd rather not drown again if we can avoid it." She nods toward the left tunnel, her eyes narrowing. "That path looks like it might lead to higher ground."

I hesitate, my hand tightening on the hilt of the Time-Splitting Sword. The glow of the mushrooms is tempting, but Varikka's words make sense. We can't afford to take risks with our lives, not when we're so close to the truth. I turn to Elric, who has been silent since we entered the tunnel. "What do you think?" I ask, my voice hushed. The old man peers down each passage, his eyes flickering in the torchlight. "I don't know," he says, his voice trembling slightly. "These tunnels are ancient and full of secrets. We could be walking into a trap no matter which path we choose."

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

I peer into the darkness of both tunnels, my hand instinctively tightening around the hilt of my weapon. Varikka's assessment about the left tunnel leading higher is sound - I've fought enough battles in my time to know that keeping our heads above water is priority one right now. But Elric's warning about potential traps lingers in my mind, a nagging doubt that I can't quite shake. I turn to Merrin, my brow furrowed in concern. "What do you think, Rogue? You've got the keenest eyes in this bunch. Any signs of danger either way?" I ask, my voice low and urgent. My ankle throbs with every step, but I push through the pain, knowing that we can't afford to slow down now. The weight of the sword on my back is a constant reminder of the prize we've come so far for - and the dangers we've faced along the way. As we huddle together in the flickering torchlight, I feel a sudden pang of unease. We've been through a lot together, this mismatched band of adventurers, but something feels different now. The air is thick with tension, the shadows seem to whisper secrets we can't quite understand. I take a deep breath, steeling myself for whatever lies ahead. "Alright, team," I say, my voice steady despite the fear gnawing at my insides. "We've come this far - we might as well see it through to the end. Left tunnel it is." I nod towards the darker path, my eyes narrowing in determination. But as we take our first steps into the unknown, I can't shake the feeling that something is about to change. The Time-Splitting Sword pulses against my back, its power a constant reminder of the stakes we're playing for. And as the tunnel winds deeper into the earth, I wonder if we'll ever see the light of day again. I take a deep breath, my hand tightening on the hilt of my weapon. "Stay close," I warn the others, my voice echoing off the damp walls. "And keep your eyes peeled. We don't know what dangers might be lurking in the shadows."
