Varikka's injured ankle gives out again as she takes a step forward, sending her crashing to the ground. The Time-Splitting Sword clatters from her hand, its pulsing light fading into darkness. Merrin rushes to her side, helping her up and supporting her weight as they both face the shifting floor beneath them.

I grit my teeth against the pain as Merrin helps me to my feet, my injured ankle throbbing with each step. The Time-Splitting Sword lies on the ground where it fell, its pulsing light faded into darkness.

"Damn it," I mutter, wincing as I try to put weight on my bad ankle.* "This place is a death trap. We need to find a way out before the whole thing comes down on our heads."

I glance around the hidden chamber, my eyes scanning the ancient carvings on the walls. The blue glow has faded, leaving us in near darkness save for the faint light filtering in from the tunnel above.

"Can you see anything useful?" I ask Merrin, my voice hushed with tension.* "Any signs of a way out of here?"

Merrin shakes her head, her eyes wide with fear. "Nothing yet," she whispers. "But we can't stay here - the ground is too unstable."

I nod, my mind racing as I try to think of a way out. The Time-Splitting Sword lies tantalizingly close, but with my injured ankle, I'm not sure I can make it across the shifting floor without falling again.

"Alright," I say, my voice tight with determination.* "We'll have to move carefully. Keep your eyes peeled for any signs of danger, and watch out for more traps."

With a deep breath, I start to make my way across the chamber, one slow and painful step at a time. The ground shifts beneath my feet, threatening to send me tumbling at any moment. But I press on, driven by a desperate need to survive.

"We'll find a way out of here," I mutter, more to myself than to Merrin.* "Even if it's the last thing we ever do."
